DONE With Pioneer
Alright I need to vent and also throw some info out there. I do not mind if you have had no problems with your pioneer or that you swear by them. Here is what I have to say.
Started out installing car audio back in like 1998 installed my first system in a 1996 Honda civic. The head unit was a pioneer 9800 I believe. 3 months after the install was done the cd stopped ejecting. It was under warranty so it was sent in, they found nothing wrong with it. Put it back in 4 weeks later the same thing but we still kept it. It was junk. Second one was in a buddy's VW the face plate was faulty, sent it back the new one the internal amp failed after 2 days of use. I get my very first car I install a pioneer deck. Wining alternator noise threw the speakers like crazy, and it just didn't work right. So I sent it back and got a alpine installed it not one hint of any problems ever. In 2008 I did a double din install for a guy and the unit never worked right and never allowed you to watch videos even with the proper parking brake bypass. So fast forward to 2009. I decide to give pioneer another chance with there premier lineup. So I trade a guy for a Premier Pioneer P880PRS. Worked fine except that wining noise was back. So a guy wanted to trade for a alpine deck I was all for it. So I sent mine to him very well packed and in perfect working condition. He gets it the thing overheats and the cd dose not eject all the way. I just talked to a few installers and the cd problem is very common on all pioneer decks. Pioneer has lost there touch and tehre quality as well. So I am done with them anyone wants to ask me about them I am going to tell them straight up there junk and I will never own another thing from them for as long as I am installing them in my car. They are junk and my choice is Alpine.

As I stated dose not matter I am voicing mine and friends of mine opinions, I am not trying to start an argument. I know to many people that have had problems with them, not so much the double dins but still have had some trouble with them as well.

AGREED. I have always told people to stay away from Pioneer and their Premier line. I have had all the same issues with them that you mentioned, and more!! I will stand by you and second that PIONEER SUCKS ***!!

mehhh, pioneer still makes some good products, alpine isnt the brand it once was either. Seems like bad personal experience ive installed at least 15-20 pioneers with little to no issue. Same goes for alpine, kenwood and clarion. They're all gonna have their defects, you just had bad luck.

I know it may all depend on the product at the time but I have just had too many bad run ins. I've used Alpine, Clarion and Kenwood without a single issue... ever. So I stand by my statement

I respect your opinion, My statement is more directed at Matt (OP) because I constantly bust his balls. I run a Clarion drz9255, they stopped making them 2 yrs ago and they sell for 800 plus dollars. The statements holds true for all car audio, you get what you pay for and they dont make the stuff like they use to

I actually own a Panasonic CQ-VD1001 flip out touch screen in my 6 and I freakin love that thing. It's like 3 years old and still sells over $800 too.

I hear ya, cant comment on Matts pioneer issues, i know he's had problems with it since the day he got it. I personally enjoyed my pioneer product, not on the top of my list but feature packed for the money. Plus everybody wants the best product for the least money which has really put a damper on the quality of car audio we see.

I know that's the truth. I gotta say though. I only spend $950 on my whole set-up. It would have cost me around $2500 but I know some people and get great wholesale prices from pretty much anywhere. Quality is hard to come by nowadays. Especially if you're not willing to spend the dough

Yea Im a dealer for a few of teh companies mentioned above, I know people hate paying retail but fail to see the direct effect buying online and unauthorized has on the hobby. Quality companies that used to have US made product are forced to go overseas to keep up with the demand for cheaper product. not to mention the warranty hassle of returning things online rather then going back to wher you bought it for an authorized repair.

I can't stand all of these companies that manage to thieve out products and sell them as UNauthorized dealers. That makes everyones lives hell when it come to the customer and the company they are stealing from
