Free cellphone mount

Just discovered that I can wedge my cellphone in between the clock binacle and the upper right corner of the dash cubby. Keeps it snug and basically level sideways, close to my normal field-of-vision. Should be useful for GPS navigation, instead of having to look down at my phone in my lap or hand. :driving:

I'm a cheapskate, so figured I'd pass along this advice for anyone else similarly inclined.

Wouldn't this highly depend on what phone you use....which wasn't stated

I have a Motorola Droid. Yeah, the really old one. But I think bigger sizes might fit too, just adjusted a little more towards the driver. Just wanted to send out the tip in case someone else found it useful and hadn't thought of it.

kenchan 08-22-2013 01:21 PM

i run a Droid4. :) but i keep it in my pocket.

lots of folks place their phones in misc places unclipped. not sure if that's a good idea when you get into an accident. that phone is going to become a trajectory and could fly somewhere you can't find it when you most need it to call 911.

That's exactly what happened to mine. Had it in the cup holder and when the accident happened it hit the windshield and cracked it and then got lost under the seat. Couldn't find it for awhile.

kenchan 08-22-2013 01:43 PM

sorry to hear about the accident, footloose. :(

Footloose301 08-22-2013 03:36 PM

Oh well. That was 3 years ago. Good to go!

Unfortunately though, if I want to listen to music (not the radio), I have to have my phone out, for the aux. cable. Too bad bluetooth wasn't standard. :shakes head:

One day I'll spend the $2k to get a decent sound setup and BT.

Yes. I need to take a break from spending money at the moment. :ugh2:

Chteelers 08-23-2013 06:25 AM

Hmmm, didn't consider what would happen in an accident. Good point.

I had a 2or3k watt full kicker stereo with a pioneer headunit. I tell ya, that Bluetooth in that unit was the best! Too bad I didn't keep my stuff for my z when I traded in my Tacoma. Oh well...I highly recommend kickers product...definitely above par for what its worth.
