nissan stock stereo or touring(bose)?

Hey guys just wanted your opinion on the stereo system for the 370z,

how big of a difference is it between the stock stereo system vs. the bose package that comes with the touring package?

Also, are there any other sound system alternatives that could be better than the bose system that comes with the touring package?

kenchan 07-30-2013 02:12 PM

base stereo = junk

bose stereo = less junky

kidkotic2001 07-30-2013 02:50 PM

Base Stereo is not good at all.

Bose Stereo with/out navi is okay not the best but will keep you going for a while.

The Bose stereo is absolute crap. My friend's old Acura TL has a better system than the 370.

I am happy with my Bose. I do not know what others are looking for. I never want bleeding ear drums so perhaps this is why folks don't like it. I am not as sophisticated as the unhappy folks.

I could not believe my $33K car came with such a basic headunit with no real features.

I am sure the Bose is a lot nicer, but I just swapped head units to add rear view camera.

I like my Bose system. I usually swear by Bose for all my other electronics at home. Surround sound systems, outdoor speakers, etc. I find that the clarity is pretty good and their built with quality. I don't know nearly as much about car audio but the Z's Bose system serves my needs just fine.

P.S. Keep in mind that I don't really like my music crazy loud or heavy bass. I'm more of a clarity/sound quality kinda guy.

I believe I'm a sound/quality guy, and I normally HATE Bose products with a passion... But honestly, yeah, the bass is 8/10, but overall it's a pretty damn good setup IMO

I know I mentioned this on another thread but I will say it again. I have a Touring with the Bose system and it is the best stereo system I have ever heard in any car that I have owned or have been in. I'm sure you could get a better after market stereo but unless you absolutely need the bass so deafening that it will rattle the license plates off their brackets, I think it is really not necessary. Yes I am one of the "older" members in this forum but I am not hard of hearing and am actually a musician so I think I know sound. Though I don't listen to the bass jarring sounds of today's Rap, I do love to listen to live classic rock performances backed by an orchestra such as Elton John in Australia and Sting in Berlin. One of my favorites is listening to Billy Joel's live performance in New York at Shea Stadium. I can't imagine a sound better than the bose system in my Touring while listening to that. For me, the Bose system is awesome.

Bose sucks. Base is worse...

AFTERMARKET

I personally prefer a full range sound and capability that most market stereos can't produce.
the g37s bose, is awesome. The z bose sounds like the rds system with a sub. The Z is better suited with aftermarket stereo and recaro seats.

I like my Bose/Navi system, is it good as something that BAF could put in by completely disassembling my entire interior/doors and rewiring every square inch from stem to stern and then putting it all back together clip by clip and screw by screw? Definitely not. But it's a hell of a lot easier to just leave the interior of the car alone and enjoy it for what it is. We took our Klippel system and curved the frequency response in the drivers position and it's actually quite decent for a car. For what it's worth it's actually the best sounding stock stereo I've ever heard in a car. Sure I'd like a larger sub but again, do I want to tear my entire car apart to get one? Nope, it ain't worth it. Besides, it's nice to just own a car for once and leave it alone audio wise.

Factory Bose is pretty good after I upgraded the deck to a kenwood ddx370. Although I do want more sound in the future....it will do for now and I agree the little sub feels the cabin quite nicely.

Read this and forever know why you love your Bose / 370Z (MIT tuned) audio system. It's an engineering work of art.

:rolleyes:RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRight you wouldn't be working for bose or anything like that would you?

Bose audio systems are worthless. I have seen a set of 200 dollar speakers powered by a aftermarket head unit kick their ***.

SouthArk370Z 08-03-2013 05:53 PM

You'll never get accurate sound out of any car stereo - the cabin is bad acoustically, listeners are off-axis, &c. But few ppl think that truly accurate sound reproduction sounds good. Bose tries to produce audio that ppl perceive as being pleasant.

Everybody's ears are different - what sounds good to one person might sound like crap to another. If you like the way the Bose system sounds, stick with it and damn the naysayers. If you don't like it, get something that sounds good to you.

Personally, I think the Bose system in my 2009 Touring is pretty good. Not fantastic, but more than good enough to keep me from replacing it.

jlo370z 08-03-2013 06:06 PM

no highs no lows its gotta be bose.

its crap that being said id still by the touring/sport over the base any day. just know if you enjoy music your gonna need to change it

kenchan 08-03-2013 07:27 PM

I know the guy that supposedly lead the design of the premium bose in my G35C.

He is intelligent, but don't know sh1t about car audio.I fixed it for him at my expense.

I never heard the bose in our car. I have a nismo with whatever it came with. As a self proclaimed audiophile, I think my stock system sounds fine. It's not great but ok under 50mph. The problem is that the car is very loud when driving over 50mph. You have to.turn the volume up pass 20 to be able to hear all the words. Once pass 20, it sucks. Thats the thing with audio of any sort. It generally sounds decent to good at low volume. Once you turn it up, it distorts. That's why "good audio components" come in. tjey are betyer able to sound good at higher volume. Want to test? Simple say a phrase, any phrase out loud. Now scream the dame phrase out loud and hear your voice break. Same thing.with speaker.

IIn'm the process of upgrading my.system even though the stock is fine. I just do a lot of highway driving so my volume is usually over 25. I get a little bothered by the system after a little while.
