Sub for mid bass?
Hello audio guru's :)
I would like some more mid bass but do not necessarily know my options here... Ideally I would like something like the bazooka tube that I can just stick in floor of my hatch but I am fairly clueless when it comes to audio. The options I'm looking at atm are 1) Get a sub that hits mids? 2) A pair of speakers for the rear that has good and strong mid bass I don't have a problem adding an amp to either of the two options. Currently I like my highs from my front speakers/tweeters and my lows from my one 10" sub in the back. Can someone help me shed some light on this, what would I be looking to get if I were to get a sub or a pair of speakers for mid bass? I'm not an audiophile by any means, just that I'm really really lacking the thump atm for mids lol |
What type of speakers are you running up front?? The first thing I would suggest is to enclose your Mid-drivers. You can use the foam baffles, or get creative and form them with dynamat or the like. you should also be sure to seal around the base of your driver before you mount it. You can use weatherstripping, or a small bead of silicone. You want to keep the air in front of the speaker completely seperated from the air behind. Even the slightest bit of leak can ruin a drivers performance. Just this one little thing will dramatically increase your mid-bass response.
Using a sub tuned to mid-bass frequencies..........eh. Just not what they are designed to do. |
I see I see. My friend gave me a pair of JL Audio TR 6.5 coaxial speakers I think, but I haven't completely sealed it in the door. Maybe I'll try that first, thanks! :)
