Pioneer Bluetooth Mic Improvement, any idea?
I have a AVH-4500 Pioneer unit. I mounted bluetooth mic at the top of the A pillar. While it is a great spot to hide the mic, it is a terrible for the mic as it picks up all the road noise from the Z. Anyone know of a way to make it work a little better. My friends all say that my phone sounds like I am driving with the windows open

I mounted mine clipped to the headliner just to the left of the rear view mirror. I haven't had anyone complain about excessive noise or that they could not hear me yet.

I mounted mine in the stock location so it's completely hidden. At first I had some of the same issues but adding some sound deadening to the doors helped a lot. I plan to do the hatch area soon too. I just don't want the mic just hanging out there. It looks kind of tacky IMO.
Also, one thing to watch out for... make sure you don't have an AC vent pointed right at your mic. It's easy to do on the A pillar. |
Move closer to center of the interior of your car should help. Is there and adjustment for the mic volume? Sometimes having the mic volume up to the highest level is not always best.

If it's still too loud, you may have to throw some sound-deadening material on the doors and in the hatch area. |

my dd has the 2500BT and mic is mounted on the corner of the a-pillar and windsheild. no issue either (even with the sunvisor down). |
its been said that the ideal spot for an aftermarket mic is right in the middle of the steering column...dunno if i would like that.

yah, be like working at a food court.
#122 your order is ready... #122 .. |
Maybe a little piece of foam covering the mic would help.

I've tried this and overall I would say it was maybe a 5-10% improvement. Hardly noticeable. |
How about a different mic? A while back, I had the same problem with the mic that came with my head unit; cheapest junk that could be classified as a mic. I ordered an aftermarket (pricey) Sony mic and it was a hundred percent improvement.
