Can I get some feedback before purchasing?
 

Hi everyone...hoping I can get some feedback on my planned setup before purchasing. I have a friend that works at a custom audio shop that I'm going to have do the install, but I was thinking about making most of the purchases off reputable sellers on ebay since they can offer even better discounts than my friend's store.

I would look at amazon, woofersetc, and sonic electronics, as well as ask Wicked to see if he can hook you up with a discount.

+1 for amazon. i search there first and pretty much buy everything on prime. :tup:

Cool thanks for the recommendations. Any feedback as far as the selection of components is concerned?

I have the 4500 and the screen gets washed out when the sun hits it. im sure they use the same screen just the guts are different. I wouldnt choose the stereo again if i had another chance based on the sun washout.


also im tinted all the way around and still doesnt help.

Most pioneers are the same screen and will get washed out. I have had good luck with kenwood and alpine touch screens not washing out as much.

+1on the Kenwood. Even before I had it tinted, never washed out

i hate my pioneer headunit, but love my focals.

i have just decided to sell mine...like right now. $250 for 6mo old 4500

Nice build.. please post progress pics, if you can. I'm planning on shoving my 8w7 in that same space, and pushing it with an XD600/1. Which shop is doing it? Once he starts the box Id like to ask some questions if that's cool with him.

You can't go wrong with kenwood but you can with pioneer. :rofl2: good move:tup:

since its 100 degrees here now when i get in the car and drive off my pioneer HU starts changing stations and songs, then changes from radio to SD card. if its really hot or really cold out the HU freaks out. odd

Alright, I made some changes based on the universal hatred towards Pioneer. Install of everything is happening next weekend except for the subs.

Any opinions on what would match the amp and car best?

Do a single sub no need for anymore than that in a Z.

So, the biggest I can do is 1 or 2 8" subs.

Why not go with a zenclosure. At the end of the day, in a practical sense, I don't think you lose much space. Not sure how much a custom box will cost, but $130 for the zenclosure is hard to beat.

I wanted to go stealth. I've always had a single 10" in my past cars though, so I'll consider zenclosures as well.

I can get a photo tomorrow, but I covered the whole thing in black speaker fabric And you cannot tell that the box is there; between the dark interior and the tinted windows, you'd have to know a priori that it is there. It also helps keep direct sunlight off the subs.

Why not take the prices you found to your buddy and see if he can match it... Always nice to at least give him the chance to make the sale.

This is a custom box i had made you do lose your spare tire :tup: but you cant even tell its there and i can still transport bags of cement ;)

It's hard for them to match ebay prices + I have to pay tax. But we were able to get the prices worked out. It's slightly more than what I can get online, but I'm getting factory warranty, a solid install, and I'm able to help my friend out. Definitely can't complain.
