AVH-X5500BHS in touring model
Hey guys,
I'm looking at putting the AVH-X5500BHS in my touring model 370. I'm mostly interested in the app mode features so that I can run Dashcommand to display OBDII info. This seems easier than a custom tablet install. I would just get the AppRadio 3 but I read that you need 4v preouts to work with the Bose amp. I'm also picking up: - Pioneer CDIV202AV AppRadio Mode VGA Interface Cable Kit for iPhone 5 - Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter - Parking Brake Override Bypass Fully Automatic Video in Motion for Pioneer Models AVH-X1500DVD AVH-X2500BT AVH-X3500BHS AVH-X4500BT AVH-X5500BHS - Metra 70-7552 Radio Wiring Harness for Nissan 07-Up - Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (Black) - Metra 40-NI12 Nissan 07-Up Antenna Adapter - Metra 99-7607B Dash Kit for 2009 Nissan 370Z (Matte Black) Is that everything I would need to make this work with the Bose system? I was thinking I might do a backup camera while I'm at it. Any suggestions on one? TIA  |
I have the same radio in my 40th (has touring bose package).
Use this harness instead: Amazon.com: Metra 70-7553 Integration Harness for Select Nissan Vehicles with Premium Sound System: Electronics it works directly off your 4v preamp outputs so you dont need a line adapter. I used the $20 ebay backup cam and it works great! You also might want to consider the Scosche dash kit instead of the metra as it fits without the need for a trim ring. boss your best bet would be ditch all the Bose crap and upgrade.

I don't have the touring package, and I didn't do the 5500 (I did an SPH-DA100 Appradio 2), but I'm enjoying the app mode. When the next jailbreak comes for the iPhone (or if I go Android), it will get even better.

Ordered everything :D

Got everything installed yesterday but the installer couldn't get the ASWC-1 to work. It wouldn't auto program or let him manually program. Tried 2 different units with the same result. He called their tech support and tried a couple changes to wiring but no luck. Looks like we're going to order a PAC instead.
I also ran into issues with the iPhone 5 connector. I bought a lightning extension cable but it's not recognized. Would have been a nice clean install if that had worked. Instead we're going to have to hook directly to that bulky Apple VGA adapter. |

My installer wrapped everything up yesterday. Everything works beautifully! AppRadio Extensions is awesome. I've got my Kiwi Wifi hooked up and can display digital gauges on the screen too. Really slick setup

Looks nice and clean. I sure like the way Dashcommand looks.
|
Thanks! I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Hey H2o_Doc,
Do you think it would be possible to install the SPH-DA100 on the storage compartment, the one above the radio? It looks really cool the way you have it though! |

I got a $25 Pyle BU camera and it works great. I made the mistake of wiring it the reverse lights to come on when I back up. That is ok, but there is a button on the HU that you can use to turn it on or off whenever you like (not an option if powered by reverse lights).
Now that I know this, I might rewire and add a front camera and toggle switch. |
Does anyone know if this install would still work with the AppRadio 3? If not, what would be different?

Sub'd for review. :tiphat: Nice looking install. What app are you using there for your gps? |
Oh yeah, how's the PAC working for your steering controls?
|
I use google maps. The PAC is working just fine ;)

Wondering how this thing will fit in the base radio enclosure. I'm looking for something that fits pretty flush. If I have to buy the whole center stack face, then I guess that would be ok as long as it looks like it belongs in the car.
Also - would the regular appradio3 work ok with the base model as far as not having 4v outs? And I guess it's time to google to see if the AR3 does bluetooth streaming. That is a must have for me for sheer convenience. DashCommand looks solid. I really want to have that capability. Did you have to do anything wiring wise to get to OBDII? Or do you have to drive around with a PLX plugged into the port all the time? |

I use an ELM327 and a dashcommand-like app. Works well, but the reader has to stay plugged in. |

What dash mount kit did you use? It looks like it could use a trim kit to make it look a wee bit cleaner.
