XM audio cuts out
Any one have issues with aftermarket XM installed and the audio cuts out. The antenna is on on the back windshield instead of the rear of the roof where the stock one would one be. I have no issues with Sirius in my truck and tech support and the installers are clueless.
Any ideas where to put the antenna? thanks |

Three guesses:
1) Bad antenna. Your installer should be able to plug a new antenna into the radio as a Q&D test. 2) Antenna cable is damaged. Look for pinch points that may have crushed/cut the cable. 3) Bad receiver.

When I had an A/M XM radio in my old Eclipse, I had to have the antenna stuck to a bit of metal for it to work properly. The Eclipse had plenty of steel to stick the magnetic antenna to though, the Z not so much so. That was a long time ago, so the newer ones may not need the metal to assist with signal reception, but worth a try if you have enough wire to move it.

The more research I do, the more it gets ugly. Apparently XM has had these issues...it's in the stock systems. I talk to people that have them and the dealer says it's XM, not the vehicle.
My stock head unit didn't have the best FM reception, now with the new head unit, it's not that much better. I'm finding out about some FM booster in the car, window tint can impact it....crazy....guess I'll keep going til it gets fixed... |

It took me 3wks to find the 2012 components. Swapped out the Head unit(Sat Ready instead of Sirius/XM) so now I am on the Sirius network. As far as the FM issues, still not the greatest....my work is done...time to move on.
