Parking break bypass. No relay, No switch
Just installed the 4400 pioneer thinking that I could just not connect the parking break wire and think that would solve the video while in motion restriction. (I was wrong, very new to this audio scene)
So now upon searching and watching various videos about switches and relays, I came across this "ebay parking break bypass kit" claiming all you need to do is splice a few wires no relay no switch etc which is quite the opposite to what I have just read. Here are the instructions and product: Pioneer Parking Brake Auto Override Bypass AVH P4400BH AVHP4400BH New Models | eBay Simple 5 Minute Installation Instructions Easy as 1, 2, 3! 1. Connect BLACK wire on module to radios black wire (radio ground wire(-)) 2. Connect GREEN wire on module to radios light green wire (parking brake wire(-)) *DO NOT connect ANY WIRES to vehicles parking brake wire* 3. Connect BLUE wire on module to radios blue/white wire (remote amp turn on(+) *will not interfere with amplifiers connected to this lead* |

It appears that it is a solid-state switch which is activated by the radios remote amp output. Replaces parking brake switch instead of hacking the wiring. But I'm just going by the description and instructions so I may be way off base.

That being said, it still mimics a relay or a bypass.. I used the same type thing.. using the same wires and set-up... Mine just had a relay box that I stuffed behind the head unit, I assume yours will as well

This will do the same thing even though it doesnt specifically state your model.

I bought one of these for my Pioneer 2500BT. (Different model, but looks the same). Simple 3 wire splicing -- works as advertised. Well worth the $10 in my opinion.

I've been using these in my installs for a few years now, I love them. So simple and saves time as well. I recommend them.

and since it's technically illegal to operate the video function while driving, I prefer to use a switch.

Parking break wire to ground is what hubby did (off the adapter harness). Wire is lt green and really long. Dvd works fine without brake engaged.

You really ought to Google the radio model number for parking brake bypass, many modern aftermarkets have a secret setting for when the radios are in the store displays, buyers can watch videos without having to ground the parking wire (some have a sequence for parking brake, etc.).

I think you mean parking break detection wire coming from receiver connected to parking brake switch ( a little module under parking break lever)
Or if I'm mistaken, then you mean to say parking break detection wire connected to black ground bypasses? I'm not sure i see what you're saying... Nonetheless I bought the little $10 bypass kit from ebay that uses a relay the size of a penny that needs no outside connections, i.e just connect black, green and blue wires directly to radio harness. The point of the relay to my knowledge is to delay timing just enough to trick the receiver. |
