I have the Bose audio so i'll need to extend the loom and relocate the amp. My current box is 416 x 185 x 150mm but each JBL 8" requires 8.5 litres of volume..... Kudos for the neat install ![]() |

you can use my dimensions - they are the inner dimensions. i used 12mm MDF which i know is thin for a woofer box but you really sacrifice box volume with thicker MDF. Using 12mm does require some precision when using screws as it splits easily.
It is the biggest sealed enclosure you can fit in there. In the end, i had to cut a slight slope into the box to allow a perfect fit with the lid attached. If you decide to drop the box part into the cavity, then screw the lid on inside the vehicle rather than assembling the entire thing outside of the car you might not need to cut the slop but it will be annoying to hold the box up perfectly level and screw the lid on perfectly. The reason for the slope and the direction of the slope will become apparent when you have a look at the cavity - it's not a straight up and down affair. Do you have Bose audio? If so, the amp will need to be relocated. Also, i am running a single Kenwood 8" woofer. The only way i can see dual 8's fitted is if the OP built a free air setup - ie, just what you see in his pictures and nothing underneath. You won't fit dual 8's in my box. In fact, the width of the box barely fits the woofer! For the lid, use your boot mat as a template then jigsaw it out as a starting point. You'll most likely need to do a few trial and error fitments and trimmings before achieving a perfect, snug fit. Goodluck! |

Hey guys glad to hear you all like my setup. The box is an enclosed setup and it kind of was a PITA to make. I can try to get the dimensions but you will have to give me some time since I have a lot going on right now... getting married in a month, closing on a new house and trying not to go crazy! I have the base model so no bose system so I did not have to relocate the amp anywhere.
Just give me a week and I can get the box out snap some pictures and take some measurements. I know when I mounted the subs in the box it was a pretty tight fit, and they barely fit in the box.

Thanks guys. This looks like something I won't be able to do myself. But I really like the look.
I personally do not even want to change the head unit in my car and will end up getting a jbl ms-8 to improve sound quality. I think some new components, a sub(s) a good clean amp, and a jbl ms-8 should sound pretty great and will look completely stock ![]() |

Congrats on putting dual 8's in a tiny enclosure. That is a good squeeze. I'm thinking smaller that mfr recommended ft.^3 by a smidge? Only if JL made dual 3 ohm 6" subs and put three of them. That would be more than enough for me.

I like that box! Nice and Stealth.. Personally I don't like anyone seeing whats in my car. When I lived in Arizona people were always breaking into cars. I don't think it should cost too much if you get it right the first time. Wouldn't have to worry much about carpeting the whole thing either....
I was thinking of building it slightly higher, maybe an inch, and go with Alpine type R's or JL.. I suppose 2 DVC 8" subs might be too much??? Any thoughts? |

Did you make this en closer + install the the subs yourself? I have been debating on a system for the Z, but have always ran into the trunk space issue.
Also did you have an amp installed? |
