GPS recommendation

Looking for a mountable/portable GPS to replace my Garmin nuvi 1450 I bought in 2011. I really like the unit overall, but one thing that annoys me is I can't remove a portion of the route it calculates. And since sometimes its route is kind of stupid, I often need to do this. I like everything else: graphics, voice, lane assist, etc. but this one issue drives me nuts.

Ive had my GPS unit for almost 20 years. It, too is portable, and mountable, sometimes stupid, and frequently barks out directions and annoys me. It often sends me down the wrong roads, as well. I like everything else it has to offer, though. Her name is Judy.

Another garmin, almost any of them are good anymore, or just use your smartphone.

So you are saying on newer Garmins I can reject a portion of the route?

I've always been a fan of TomTom GPS's. I know for sure you can change a portion of a planned route.

Of course you could just do what I do and just stop following its directions when you get to that part of the route. Eventually it recalculates using the directions you actually want.

I know a lot of the newer models you can reject a route either by telling it to give you an alternative route or by telling it there is a detour.

I'll look the Garmin 50LM manual and see what that says.

Yeah I think TomTom has had that for awhile. Seems like the newer ones don't get as good of reviews versus Garmin as they did two years ago though. I'll look into them.

That's about how old mine is actually. FWIW I travel for work extensively and my TomTom has never let me down.
