Trouble Ejecting a CD on the Bose System
A few weeks ago I decided to load another CD onto my music box. After recording the whole CD I pressed the eject button, the usual "ejecting disk" message appeared on the NAV screen. After about 5 seconds, the reading disc message appeared and it started playing again. I have tried numerous times since and can't get the CD to eject. I can't even see it trying to come out of the player. Has anyone else had this problem? I called the dealer and they said that the only thing they can do is remove the Bose unit and send it to the factory for repair...WHAT???? Am I going to have to drive the car without tunes until the repair center gets the CD extracted and/or replace the player?

I've never had THAT extreme of an issue but just yesterday I was going thru cd's and loading them to Music Box and one of mine just stopped playing after the first song finished and it was recording on about the 4th song. I pushed eject and it was very hesitant and slow to eject the cd. It did come out enough that I could grab ahold and pull it out but the cd player kept making the noise like it was trying to eject or load a cd for a few seconds after.

Sounds like a good excuse for a new aftermarket head unit!!

Update
Back in July I went to pick up the car and the service advisor said I have good news and bad news...not good. He went on to tell me that he used a trick used on Hondas before to get them to eject by tapping on the right of the player. The bad news is they ordered the wrong unit (Bose without Nav). I simply stated I would try other CD's and see if it happened again. Well 8 months later I ripped another disk and it stuck in the player. I made another appointment to have it replaced, and guess what...the ordered the wrong unit again.
Back in 2 days for the right unit! If it wasn't still under warranty and the hard drive didnt store tons of music I would consider an aftermarket head. |

From what I have been reading people are having more and more problems with the bose system everything from amps going bad to speakers crapping out to cd's not ejecting. I agree with rreign to upgrade.

New CD player installed..all is good now. The downside is the CD player is incorporated into the HDD. Time to reload all my music onto the new hard drive.

Did you have to pay or did the dealer take care of the cost? If it happens again "good chance it will" you might want to look into aftermarket options.

No the vehicle is still covered by the full warranty I didn't have to pay for anything. My extended warranty is good until 7 years or 100K and it covers the Bose System and the Nav as well as other high tech electronics on the car. Our other Z equipped the exact same way has not had this issue. I beleive it was just a fluke with that particular CD player
