Probs turning the speakers up or down on Bose system.
So I have a touring w/bose and nav setup. I bought the car used and I swear, turning the speakers up and down or going through different channels or turning the air up or down to a certain temp is the biggest pain. It will go up when Im turning it DOWN!!!! and just hops between channel numbers sometimes. Is there a known issue with this that I can take it to the dealer and get it swapped out? Its madness trying to turn it down via the knobs and it gets louder and louder. The steering controls work perfectly but the knobs have a freakin mind of their own. HELP!!!
THanks a ton:tiphat: |

Mine does the same thing, but only with the volume knob. I raised hell and eventually got them to replace the entire unit but the new one does the same thing. The techs at my dealership are so bad that they scratched everything up and I had to get them to replace a bunch of the interior panels so after I got that done, I just gave up and live with it.

I have the nav system so I know I have a speed sensor that changes the volume on its own. not sure if the base/sport system has the same but something to check.

Solved it by pulling the knobs off, (Yes, they come off, be gentle but firm :icon17:) then spray a little bit of contact spray in, let it dry for half an hour, finally put the knob back. Of course, shut the power off before this procedure. Hope i could help. :hello: |
my bose in my old 03 Pathfinder LE did the same thing right before i sold it. stupid bose equipment. sorry to hear

I have seen this happen with an over-liberal application of Armoral, it gets into the knob adjustment contacts and then become erratic and or develop a mind or their own.

My 2009 Touring with Navi recently started doing this also volume turn up or down, the rotary encoder gives erroneous values and down=up and up=down but only occasionally and not repeatably. Guess I'll put some red Cramolin into the encoder to see if that cleans it up.
PS: Have seen no evidence of ArmorAll application. |
yah it sounds like its a fault with the system period and im guessing nissan would charge me another grand to change it out. Once you guys hear anything new, let me know. I just use my steering wheel controls for now, however i cant do AC that way which sucks balls.

Same thing the guy above me said, sounds almost like a dirty contact. My old cd player out in the garage does this unless I press on the knob a certain way. See if you can use compressed air in between the buttons or something like that, it might help.
