Default Nav System Added In After the Fact?

First,
Sorry if this is a repeat thread but I did do a quick search with nothing found on this matter.

Is it available to put in the stock Nissan Navigation System controls if a 370z is bought without one? I do NOT like the look of the pop/hidden compartment above the Integrated Control Panel. I would assume (and just assuming here) that all the wiring harnesses are in behind that compartment and it's just a matter of removing it and hooking them up.

So let me know what the pros on here think. It would help considerably because I see a lot of 370z Touring Packages w/o the Nav System that would look good with the stock in them.

Thanks in advance!
~matt

You will have to get the "premium" package IE touring package... but anything is possible .. im sure all you really need are the right harnesses... you mighttt need the touring HU - im not sure about that....

I have found that posts and replies by bigaudiofanat have helped me out alot. Enough to know that I will run into problems if I wanted to add DVD and Im a lttle limited to what I can do without causing functions not to work. So I have the navi but no DVD. I have the bose system but I wish It was a little louder. I agree it looks great, the hard drive is way cool. If you really want no limits dont get it unless you dont mind limits. The only limit would be how much cash you wanna throw at it aftermarket. I mean Im not going to replace the system just to have DVD. If I could Id have a double screen on nav and one DVD both tough screen. I like what Lou at amplified with to his stereo set up. check it out.

Correct it has been asked before, you would need a lot of wiring harness and all, not to mention that the factory built in nav antenna is not in your car, so it is not even worth the time for money to even try, I would recommend getting an aftermarket one like the kenwood.

The cars are not pre-wired for the navigation system. You would have to run wiring for everything. You'd be better off installing an aftermarket unit.

Not worth trying to swap in the OEM Nav.. I'm glad I kept looking for a Z that was fully loaded! You should do the same, just hold out for the exact Z you want, it's really worth it.

I actually say that the aftermarket ones are much better than the factory specifically the kenwood with built in garmin.

Thank you all for the replies.

The only areas that I have seen the aftermarket Nav/DVD systems placed are just above the Air Control knobs. Has anyone seen an attempt to put the Nav/DVD system mounted into that pop/hidden compartment? Again, really do not like the look of that thing.

Thumbs up

Wow, I've got lot's of reading to do

I had the same question for my newly purchased (8/1/09) Touring/Sport Pearl White everthing BUT the NAV Package. In one way I'm wishing I would have gotten it (nav Package) in other maybe not errr

The invoice Pricing by Admin/AK370Z made me go premium/sticker right away, priceless I ended up giving the dealer 2-grand, not really, the 2 grand was for the top 7/year plartnium warranty and touch of class (say what you will, had it 2X before and never had to wax 5 years!)

Ok, rambling now, just wanted to say hi, and thanks already-I'll send info tp AK370Z guess for decal, paid so fast forgot to include address, heh-LOL?
