Nissan 370Z Video
I'm not very familiar about car audio/video stuff. My question is, because the navigation screen is already included and it is hard drive based, can one just go out and buy a dvd player and watch videos on it as well? Maybe have multiple video inputs like a tv. Or would you need a completely new unit? I'd love to have this option because most of the time I'm waiting out in the car while my GF shops or does some other crap that takes over an hour.
Better yet, is this ipod connectivity only for music or for video as well? |

Most OEM Navi systems require some kind of external modifications to do video inputs - whether it be a simple adapter to the OEM harness, or a full blown additional hardware/software upgrade.
From what I've seen in the G37, it should be a simple RCA/VGA to harness application that can be added in easily. |
ya if you and do it like the G37 it will be easy
but no vid through the stock ipod cable it comes with. As well it will not charge the 3G iphone or second gen ipod touch. You need to buy an adapter.
don't forget about the A/V cable to plug into the RCA jacks...............is the Z even gonna come with RCA jacks like the G????
I don't think so

Here ya go:tup: it does have AV Cables and Ipod Dock connection so you will be able to display Video from you Ipod on screen also. Thats the little box above the RCA Jacks
Attachment 269 This is from the manual for the 370z not G in-case someone asks |
ya but the ipod cable in the car willl not support the video you will have to use the RCA jacks for vid. And that is limited to while you are parked unless you do a bypass
Oh thats :supergay:

^^^ shoot me you e-mail and i'll give you the DIY for thr G37 would thing it will be close we will just have to confirm the wires on the Z when someone gets it.
I like the location of the inputs!!! That's freaking great... I can stick an ITX board in there if I wanted to... Or put my N95 in there. The N95's video out is bad ***.
An ITX board will not fit in there but I'm sure you can string the A/V cables to the back where you can actually keep a decent system. (Corei7/Nvidia280GTX)
It's just too bad that they're composite inputs. Even though the screen is small I bet there still would be a difference in video output if it was HDMI/Component/DVI/VGA/DisplayPort, ANYTHING but composite.
I plugged my N95 8GB into a 20 inch TV via RCA/composite and it looked just fine. On that smaller screen it will look just fine!
I'm just nit picking now but some equipment will not run unless connected via "HD" connection. ie PSP Game playing.
Even if an ITX board doesn't fit, there's still nano and trisquet boards.

Well anyone actually used their A/V inputs yet? I tried with my digital camera and got nothing. It outputs to my TV's fine though.
The car has to be stopped (and I think the parking brake has to be up [M6]). Keep hitting that AUX/DISC button until you see AUX input on the screen.
