rear view camera help

I just purchased this...dont think anyone has mentioned these on the forums so i guess ill be the guinea pig here ill try to take pix of the install when it shows.

on a side note the seller offered (if in Hong Kong) to take me out for Chinese food and for me to call him whenever im in town...

Yea dude, god be with you on that one. I saw them pop up several weeks back. I don't expect good things, but I really hope it works out for the best. Please follow up with what it was like to hook up this "wireless" camera.

lol i have a alpine one for my rear cam worked well, but ordered a cheap ebay one so that i could put on the front so that i wouldn't scrape my lip works just as well lol

I dont see too much of an issue since its most likely using a UHF signal that has a shorter wavelength which is better for line of site and short distance transmissions. That being said you are not going to get too much interference from outside signals unless they are right on top of you, think closed circuit TV. The only disadvantage is there could be some fuzziness due to other electronics and all the metal.

how did you connect the 2? or does the deck come with 2 inputs?

This is true as long as the engineering on the actual unit is up to spec. That's yet to be seen.

I had one of the same "oem style" cameras installed about two months ago. Connected to my OEM Bose-Nav unit in a 2010 roadster. Still works! The picture is sharp and looks better than my OEM unit in my Hyundai.

Well Cbtech you could always direct wire it if it doesn't work out. You might have to put them pretty close together (receiver and transmitter) in order to get them to work.
I've tried them before and while they do work, sometimes when you drive real slow through neighborhoods you'll see baby monitor images come up on your little receiver screen.....
My personal take is the image isn't as good as a direct wire but you could see a kid or a bike behind you if the wireless connection is good.

all good points and ur right I could just hard wire it. i might make it accessible behind the glove box so if i need to hard wire it i could. I plan on only using it for reverse and not to turn on any other time.

Hi Cheshire,

I'm routing to the Bose Navi. I've put a trigger transistor activated by the reverse signal to ground the Parking Brake wire when in reverse. I ran the camera input to the composite input on the radio. It's hokey, and when the car is over 1mph the dead reckoning signal to the Navi tells the radio to mute the video input. I COULD cut the dead reckoning wire to the Navi but if I'm going to pull that radio that far apart I decided I could put a Navtool RGB to composite adapter with 2 inputs, 1 for Reverse Cam and 1 for anything else video. Navtool thing change the composite signal from the camera to RGB to display on the screen. I could have made one up myself but for 200.00 my time into the thing would be worth way more than that.
Haven't gotten the Navtool adapter in yet. Hopefully it's as good as everyone else says it is and it won't detract from my video signal quality.
