new to 370z systems
Was looking at putting in a kenwood 9990 HU, alpine v9 amp, 6.5 hertz, and a 12w6 JV sub. Was wondering from looking around the board if this was a good combination. Also if anyone knows a good place in San Antonio to have it installed or do it myself. Looking at doing it asap. :happydance:

I currently own the 9990 and will be switching out my amp for the V9 in the spring. I don't own Hertz currently but I've been impressed with them in the past. Personally I think a 12" sub is a little overkill for a car as small as the Z but it really boils down to personal preference.
Bottom line is that these are all well regarded components that are commonly installed by members of the forum. Should sound great. I can't help you with installers in Texas but installation in the Z isn't too difficult if you've ever installed car audio before (assuming that you don't have the Bose package. That's still doable but a different animal entirely). Dismantling of the center console is fairly straightforward, you've got a bit of room in the center console to work with as far as harnesses and whatnot are concerned, and there are relatively easy to use pathways to run wires to the hatch for your sub. Getting new wires ran for your door speakers can be kind of a pain in the *** but is really more tedious than difficult. You should take a look at SlikNik's Install Videos before making a final decision on professional vs. DIY install. They're stickied here in the audio forum and will literally walk you through the complete install step by step. Best of luck! |
Thanks for the info looked at his videos. Does not seem to hard might give it a try. :tiphat:
How do you like the the 9990. |
what hertz set are you looking at?
|
I've been very happy with it. It's way more responsive than previous Kenwood HU's and it's audio feature list is pretty comprehensive. Genuine Garmin nav is fantastic and it has more inputs than almost anyone could possibly need.
I do have one or two minor gripes...mostly about their half assed implementation of bluetooth, but nothing that I would call a dealbreaker by any means. |
the 165 i think thats what they were there about $450 a pair sounded awsome
