Guys:
I'll be wiring in my LC2i tomorrow as my amp should be arriving (box & sub the next day). Is it better to wire the LC2i on the sub output wires from the Bose amp or on the input side of the Bose amp before it goes in to it? |

You had it right in your PM, sky blue and voilet 9 and 14 on the bose amp is the same 2 wires at the bose sub connector 1 and 2, tap into those 2 wires at either place.

Could you explain why you would need to connect to both left & right inputs on the LC2i? Your running a mono amp, so wouldn't all you need to do is connect to the left side of the LC2i? Am I missing something in the above description |

Matt will probably jump in here at some point and correct me I'm sure. Edit: His comment above should read" you could y out either at the speaker level output from your BOSE amp or at the ..................

I believe the reasoning behind his reply is that not all amplifiers sum the inputs, in which case, even though you are feeding it a mono signal, you will only have output on the right or left side (whichever you have connected at input) The simple solution is to feed both left and right inputs.
This is why he mentioned that you can sum the inputs OR the rca outputs on the lc2, but if you use the outputs to sum pre-amplifier, you need to use the left side input on the lc2 for signal sensing turn-on.

Finally got more base
Thank you Sparky & bigaudiofanat for tech assistance This set-up is night & day compared to OEM Bose sub and well worth it. Here are some pics and opinions: Rockford Fosgate R500-1D Mono Sub Amp, Audiocontrol LC2i LOC, 4 Gauge Fosgate Amp kit mounted behind drivers seat: Corregated cut for box to sit a bit lower. FYI: The cargo cover clip will STILL hit top of box: Relocated tools for access. I trimmed some of the foam so tools would fit snug: Wicked CAS Corner Box , JL Audio 10W3v3-2 Sub & JL Grill. I mounted the box with a couple of self-tapping screws: Fosgate Remote Bass Control: . . . |

Very clean, nice install. I've wanted to integrate an aftermarket sub into my Bose system for a while now, but have always struggled to wrap my head around how to do it. This thread has finally made things clear enough for me feel comfortable taking on the task.

Hey guys: I'm back with more questions. I'm thinking about replacing my fronts with a set of 6.5 components (the roll-off of the highs starting to bug me a bit) . I know all about re-wiring which isn't really a big deal.
My question is more about the amp connection. Do the front speaker output wires from the Bose amp send a full range signal? Right now I have the sub out wires from the Bose amp connected to the speaker input on the LC2i to send the base signal to the sub amp, but I cannot connect the front wires AND the sub wires to the LOC at the same time. So I was wondering if the fronts would provide enough signal for the amps that are for the sub and the second amp for the fronts? I spoke with Eric at AC and he said he wasn't sure if our vehicles had the full frequency or I'd have to install a second LC2i just for the main amp. I guess I'm just looking for the easiest way to connect a second amp... This is what I'm looking at: Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component: http://www.polkaudio.com/products/db6501 Rockford Fosgate PRIME R150X2: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...?itemid=225201 Or perhaps: Rockford Fosgate Punch P300X2 http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...?itemid=120386 Rockford Fosgate Punch P400-2 http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...?itemid=108228 Thoughts? Boy...I'm starting to confuse myself... Last edited by pfdaxe; 01-29-2013 at 03:27 PM. |

The front outputs do not carry a full range signal, the best way is to tap into the low level inputs going into the amp, this way you will have a full range signal to do whatever with.
If your going to amp your new speakers step up to either the DXI's from polk or alpine type R's

I only have the RCA inputs going into my amp from the bass output of the LOC, or are you talking about the wires from the HU going into the Bose amp? Good call on the speakers. I really like the Polk DXi6500's and they're not much more . . . |
