Question Car System. What amp do I need?

I bought 2 10' kickers comp (4 Ohm) but im only wanting to use 1 in a closed box I have for right now. I have no idea which amp I should buy as in Class A/B, D or which ever there is. I want to be able to use the subwoofer at its fullest potential without busting it. The subs are 500watts each. I was given a SCORSCHE 1600 watt high power amp wiring kit with DIGITAL CAPACITOR. Looks cool but no idea what this is... im reading up on this as I post but would like y'alls opinions. Also I was wondering which type of speakers should I replace the factory. They sound busted and raspy. Lookin for a clear voice coming thru my speakers.. Can someone please guide me....Thank you

Why did you buy 2 subs if you only plan to use 1?

But no matter... I'm guessing you mean that your sub is 500W RMS? Not 500W Peak?

If so, you want an Amp that pushes 500W @ 4 ohms. And you'll want a Class D (Mono) amp.

So for you, since you're using Kicker, I would stick with Kicker amps as I've been pleased with them. You have 3 choices.

Kicker IX1000.1 (1000W @ 2 Ohms, 550W @ 4 Ohms) - Most Expensive, smallest footprint Kicker IX1000.1 (11IX1000.1) Mono Class D Car Amplifier

Kicker ZXS1000.1 (1000W @ 2 Ohms, 500W @ 4 Ohms) - Middle of the line, best for cost effectiveness/quality Kicker ZXS1000.1 (12ZXS1000.1) Class D Mono Amplifier Car Amp -->This one will most likely be your best bet for cost effective/power matching for your sub.

Kicker DX1000.1 (1000W @ 2 Ohms, 550W @ 4 Ohms) - Cheapest, Least advanced model. Kicker DX1000.1 (11DX1000.1) Mono Class D Car Amplifier

Also, if you want you can use this calculator which will help you decide: Matching Subwoofers & Amplifiers

AK370Z and Good_Tymes like this.

No prob. I have all Kicker products myself. Love em.

As for the Capacitor, if you're only going to push 500W, it's really not necessary with the newer generations of amps.

A kicker comp is 300 peak its like 150 rms no need for a capacitor. A kicker zx400.1 is more than enough for just 1. Kicker comps are single voice coil so for 1 you are stuck with 4 ohm which is just about right for the zx400.1 @ 4 ohm.

Edit: Are they Comps or CompVR?
If CVR I would use a ZX750 it will push 2 CVRs hard and will be fine for 1 because you can wire a CVR down to 2ohm since its dual voice coil.

Edit2: Kicker does not make an amp that is 1 ohm stable as far as I know. So you will be stuck wiring 2 to 4 ohm

As far as I know the KX1200 and SX1250 are the only 1 ohm stable amps kicker has made. All new Kicker amps are advertised at 2 ohm

the 2010 DX series was 1 ohm stable
