Actually this is a downfire sub so no it's not rippling the cover or anything, but with the rear view mirror dancing around it looks like the rear window is gonna pop out! LOL.

I'd flip that bad boy over for the giggles to see if it did anything cool

That really looks like an ideal sub for the Z.

Forgive me for not understanding the details of car audio, but do you also have to have a amplifier installed in the car somewhere to drive the sub, or is there a sub output on the back of the stock Nav/Audio unit? Thanks.

I added an Alpine amp to drive the sub and tapped off the stock sub, through a line output converter (Audio Control LC2i). It's a bit of work to install it all but it was worth it. I would like to replace all the stock speakers some day but for now this was a good compromise to "wake up" the stock Bose system and still retain my Nav etc.
Also as a side note, I use an ipod loaded with uncompressed CD rips for a source. It seems the Bose only gets worse with SQ from other sources. The music box hard drive was a big disappointment in my opinion, with compression down to 192 kps not helping.

I like that space behind the seats for an Amp-Rack, but I dunno about a sub, it just seems like its only vibrating the back of your seat and is baffling the sound waves...

For instance, I have 2 Kicker S10L7's in my trunk in a Zenclosures Upfire box between the rear bar and strut domes. It was more of I had 2 subs from my previous vehicle, might as well use both instead of 1 and a paperweight more than the car Needing that much bass.

As for the hating on Kicker, not sure why, these things sound amazing and I've never really even turned them up. (Not that there is much need to in this tiny space)

Right now the limiting factor is the stock fronts. I plan on upgrading them to a kicker component set, but my problem right now is I do plan on "one day" gutting the interior and removing everything unessential to make it full up race car. However I have no idea when that "one day" will be. So to get them and go through the trouble of installing them right now, and enjoying them until that day, or not bothering since eventually they'll be removed.

If anyone knows of someone looking to sell a Single 10" Square hole upfire Zenclosures box, I would be really interested in that sale/trade.

Hi Guys,

After a bid of advice.

What would be the best place to install a CP108LG-W3v3 and the best way to secure it?

Cheers

You could always go with this; make me an offer. First $450.00 takes it!

why would he have to use 2? i don't understand what you mean by the sound not traveling correctly.

Lolz.

I have bought small sealed boxes from a local brick and mortar for $40. If they are wanting any more than that for that small of a box I would go somewhere else. You cant go wrong with a Kicker sub especially for the price. I would have one over Pioneer any day of the week and only an excelon series Kenwood. This is just personal opinion of course.
Sonic Electronix is good I ordered my T1 from them and it was positive all the way around.

we do know that sub-bass frequencies are non-directional, right? if you can tell where the sub is in your car, you have tuning issues. crossover too high, out of phase, ect.
one sub or two, any spot in the car, makes no difference.

For the most part that is true, especially in a car (the worst possible audio environment imaginable), but multiple low end drivers can set up standing waves if one is not careful. Probably not a big concern for most ppl, but it's why I recommend only one sub-woofer.
But, as with everything else about audio, it's what sounds good to you.

To the forum in general, it's usually very easy to phase bass drivers. Just do an A-B comparison by swapping the wires to one of the drivers. When out of phase, there will be a very noticeable "muddy", muted sound. This works best if you can set the drivers side-by-side and stand directly in front of (or behind if there are no enclosures) them.

more precisely, cancellation issues, not standing waves. highly unlikely to create standing waves at sub frequencies. the wavelengths ar far too long.
1126 fps speed of sound 60hz tone= 18.76 ft wave.
higher freq. is where you may run into issues with standing waves as well as Inside your sub box. for a standing wave you need to have 2 paralell surfaces reflecting that wave at each other.
