I have one more question, i have the Kenwood DNX6190HD headunit with a back up camera and i was wondering after i disconnect the original head unit will this new one hook right up or do i need to buy any adapter wires?

RonRizz 12-05-2012 03:56 AM

u need wiring harness and antenna adaptor. the z has a power(ed) antenna.

alright thanks, do i use both harnesses the one that came with the unit and the Z ones? or just the new Z harnesses?

RonRizz 12-05-2012 08:08 AM

wiring that came with unit splices into new harness (they should be color-matched) which plugs (male) into factory plug(female)

when i run the new wires for the speakers, should i just snake them threw and where should i put the crossovers

I suggest you look at the sticky threads, and watch the install videos.

already watched them like 5 times, so im guessing theres not other place then putting them under a seat? would the crossovers fit in the doors?

RonRizz 12-07-2012 07:32 AM

not a wise choice, due to moisture concerns. you can basically put them anywhere in the cabin of the car. back at amp, behind seat, under seat, behind kickpanels, under dash, ect, ect.

alright thanks

If I have a kenwood headunit can I ground the parking brake wire directly to the body without a relay?

Crossover location

Some have luck locating the componet crossovers behind the kick panel. Their is the fuse box in the driver's side and the ECU on the passenger side.

do you guys know if i can keep the stock speaker wires for the front doors even tho i changed the speakers and changed the wires going to the crossover from the headunit, i feel like it would be an extreme pain in the *** to run new wires threw the door.
