Speaker/Amp Choices

OK y'all, I am considering replacing the Bose system speakers and adding sub (s) to the Z. I have looked at a couple of local places near Ft. Worth and these are the choices so far.

Speakers:

Front:

Morel Dotech Ovation Comp 6
Diamond Hex
Hertz

Sub (s):

Rockford-Fosgate
Diamond Hex

Amp:

Zapco
Diamond
Alpine (????)

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

From a educated opinion/experience, I would suggest since you already chose components from Diamond, Subs from Diamond and an Amp from Diamond, I would buy the whole set up from Diamond. It's always better to try and stick with one company through your install, when possible. You have some good options that you have listed but I would go with Diamond everything. They are a great company, an older company so they know their Sh*T Just my .02

I have personaly never heard of diman. On that note the comapnys I would recomend are image dynamics, or rainbow, if you are going active than maybe even focal as sometimes there tweeters are a tad harsh.

No choices or purchases yet, these are what the shops I have visited are suggesting.

One shop was all Diamond Hex or Hertz, the other was Morel/Rockford/Zapco amp.

Thanks

Morel Ovations are about as good as it gets for speakers. If you choose those you will need a lot of power. Morels are top-notch and on par with the very best such as Focal Utopias, and Dynaudio's. I have a set of the ovation 3-ways in my Armada and they sound incredible. I have a 4 channel Alpine PDX dedicated to them. 150WX2 to the Mid and Tweeter and 150WX2 to the 7" mid bass speakers. Its incredibly loud and Armada's are huge inside.

One person was convinced that I had 10" subs in my doors and was floored when I told him they were only 7" speakers. I have a single 12" sub and you cant even hear it over the fronts. It just fills in the bottom octaves.

BTW, Alpine PDX amps rock! I like that they are small but have huge power.

As far as subs I am amazed at the Dayton Reference Series subwoofers. I replaced my blown JL Audio 12W6v2 with the Dayton RS12-HO and it is better sounding sub and its 1/4 of the price of the JL sub and has twice the power handling! They come in sizes from 8" to 15" and can be bought from www.partsexpress.com. These subs are an extreme value per buck!
