NickD, do you think you can provide a picture of the dried Liqui-Damp product on the door? I know this will involve removing the door panel again but I might be able to compensate you. :)

P.S. I was going to attempt installing the sample of X over the weekend but it was way too cold and windy. I'm gonna shoot for this weekend.

For all interested, this product is our standard Liqui-Damp product but we also offer a thicker version called Liqui-Damp X. NickD, I'd be happy to send you a free 6oz sample for more testing. :)
For anyone else wanting a sample, give me a call: 1-855-GTSOUND and request Liqui-Damp X.

Between the liquid and the matts, which provides the best sound deadening?

We recommend using GTMat in conjunction with GT Liqui-Damp products. The GTMat should be used as your base and the Liqui-Damp can be used over it with as many layers as needed to fill nooks and crannies and hard to reach places where mat is not a feasible option. I would prefer the GTMat myself since it is removable with some work. However, the Liqui-Damp can be applied as thick as you want and can also be sanded down and painted.

It's basically a preference on how much work you want to put into it, how clean you want it to look and whether you think you might want to remove it later. If you have not signed up for our free samples, give me a call and I'll have it out within 24 hours.
