High pitched noise coming from speakers

Since I've bought my Z there is a high pitched sound coming from my speakers at all times unless I mute the sound. Doesn't matter if its radio or AUX.

Is this normal or something wrong? It's not a debilitating sound, its just annoying because it's noticeable.

Is this a stock unit or after market? Some people say that the ECU makes a whining noise.

Some more info would help.

It's not normal, but you didn't give enough info for a diagnosis.
Is your car stock? If any mods, what are they? Engine/electrical mods can cause interference.
Is it a stock radio? If so, base or Bose? If not, give a description of system.
Does the noise change frequency or volume with engine RPM?
Does the noise change frequency or volume when you turn the headlights on?
What exactly do you mean by "mute the sound"? Turning the volume down?

Stock audio system
Bose package
Noise is consistent regardless of RPM
When audio is mute the noise is gone

Something with the bose system, such as a lose ground. I would take it in and have it looked at.

Id check ground first, ghost theory aside. Also check any EMF interferance from the alternator, although since its a factory option it is doubtful that could happen, but happened to my freind when we installed his aftermarket radio. Also, a speaker wire could have come loose from its harness and is hangin too close to a power wire. But more likely than not its merely a loose ground, though I would get it checked cause if that was the case you would ONLY here the noise when radio was on, not with AUX. Have you checked foreign objects too? like magnets or a phone or something? GPS nearby? Anything spitting interference?

If you want a shop to tell you to upgrade everything go ahead to a audio shop.

I would highly recommend demanding your dealer to fix it, as taking it to a shop will cause you to spend some cash as they may upgrade everything.

There is one amp for the subs and one for the speakers.
