Call it petty, but I don't want to have a blue head unit in a car with everything else amber. That's one of the reasons I like that Pioneer so much. It will match perfectly with everything else. Unless you know of another unit that has all the features + color matching + doesn't have a big dumb LCD screen on it?
JVC makes a good one, I just prefer to stay away from pioneer.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH and it absolutely does have fully customizable and adjustable color...
I've matched the Z interior orange lights perfectly but have since switched to red since I changed over to LED map/trunk lights.

(as did the X190BT)

What are your reasons for staying away from Pioneer? I'd love to take this chance to pick your brain for your expertise and experience. Thanks

The only problem, it's not out yet. comes out sometime in September. The price? only $150.00 dollars!!! can't beat that!

I am actually going to get it for my car. I am patiently waiting....

Quick run down on the problems I have seen first hand, read about, or heard from other installers.

Removable face plates, display fails

Cd's start to not eject fully

Pico fuse can blow

Internal components fail.

BT mic's have a history of horrible echo

Motorized units have problems.

Their are people who hate and love pioneer, ones that do not have problems and ones that do. I prefer to stay away from them. Even a few here have started out by saying they had no problems. A year later nothing but problems and switched them out for kenwoods or other brands.

Hmm.... thanks for the input, I'm going to continue my search and see if I can find something almost the same as this Pioneer.

Just be patient like I am it will be worth the wait. The unit has built in Bluetooth and built in HD radio plus it has steering wheel controls. No additional accessories required as in those other "...ready" radios. There are you tube videos that show case everything that it does and it will make you fall in love with it more.

Do the Alpine HUs have any sort of color choosing option for matching with the rest of the interior lighting?

I think some of them do, I know the 910 does not.

Holy crap dude you got it already?! I ordered mine from Crutchfield for the free installation gear and the thing doesn't even show up on their website right now. When I ordered it, it was on backorder.

Also I programmed the lights to match the Z gauges (amber outside) to match the interior lighting and orange/red match the needles!! the wait was so worth it!
