Honestly when I heard it, it sounded just how I thought it would, you now have two different locations where sound is coming and you actually have to fade it forward because you heard the rears more than the fronts. Customer was happy but IMO I still do not recommend them. Also keep in mind, you have to install bass blockers with these because they can become damaged by normal bass.

Actually, I think I can answer my own question. It would be a pita to run the wire all the way back and your front speakers will probably be amped anyway, in which case you would blow the back ones. So just install the bass blockers right? Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff

The rear speaker install job was in my Z. I Use the rear speakers when playing video on my headunit but not when listening to music. I like the surround sound in movies, but when playing music I fade everything to the front.
With that said, Matt once again did a great job and I couldn't be happier. I will eventually be installing leather seat covers, a sub/amp and the rear fog light and will again be calling on Big Matt for assistance.

I am glad you brought up an old thread rather than starting a new one. adding pins to the stock harness would mean finding the correct ones from a electronics store. However if you add a new head unit there are no pins to add just wire them up to the rear outputs.

for the rear in such small space, it'd be better just to run the woofer with no tweeter(or high freq) and just to use as a fill.
if not, just run a subwoofer or no rear speaker entirely. |

Well you would want to put some kind of filter on the speakers if you were not doing a coaxial. Not doing this will send a speakers full range which will sound awful and could damage it.

so quick question...
when you installed the smaller polk audios in the sides of the z was there already factory speaker wire behind the panels, or did you have to run your own wire to the head unit? im looking to do a set of speakers in my Z and im pretty experienced with car audio having done a good bit of cars but it would be nice to know just for a heads up! Also do you know if the base z comes with components in the front or are they just coaxials in the door? thanks for the help Phil Last edited by Gregor12; 10-26-2013 at 01:37 AM. |

As said above you have to run your own AND if your running a stock head unit you have to add pins to the factory harness. Not sure where to get those pins yet but I am sure nissan would get you some.

I have a base model and I am considering upgrade the soud system. I will like to keep using volume control on the steering wheel. Regarding sound, I'm not an expert, even basic knowledge about it, but I am looking for nice clean sound, where i can turn up the volume and hear my ipod well enough, also BT to answer my calls.
Can you suggest me a setup for my car, including speakers, locations... any tweeters?, and or sub woofer? Do you suggest to change the radio? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but i'am trying to do it good, if i am going to spend money on the sound system. Thanks.
