Default Basic speakers to Bose Speakers

Hello, members.

I just have quick question for you experts.
I currently have basic system in my 370z.
If I were to swap my basic speakers to bose speakers (no woofer, just speakers), would it be just straight swap?
Do I need a separate amp?

Thank you very much in advance,

Please do a search for this. To put it simply it is not worth the time and it would burn up your stock head unit without the bose amp and all the wiring and so on.

Search for bose

buy yourself a cheap set of aftermarket speakers. polk, jl, infinity. they will sound 1000x better than the bose speakers which really are no better than the base speakers.

You can get much higher quality sound from cheaper manufacturers than Bose that will fit with what you have now. Not to mention the headache of dealing with the oddities of the Bose system.

e36er,

At one point, I was trying to upgrade my base system to the bose. In this effort I actually swapped the base speakers in my 370z with the bose front speakers and bose tweeters keeping the stock headunit. The verdict, it does work and it is plug and play. The sound quality was much better than the base speakers, however if you turned it up too loud the tweaters would start to make a "clipping" sound. I would assume it is because they were receiving a full frequency of sound rather than high-pass only. You could probably solve this by adding a cheap bass blocker capicator if needed. In the end, I ended up upgrading all of my stereo to aftermarket. However, I will say the front bose door speakers do sound quite nicely on the stock head unit. Very warm!

Hope this helps.

Regardless of other members' experiences, I would strongly suggest against pairing the Bose speakers with anything other than the Bose amps due to impedance issues. Bose speakers are infamous for running on weird ohm values. As many people have mentioned, that kind of money will get you much better non-Bose aftermarket equipment.

As others have mentioned, I would, as a general rule of thumb, always stay far away from Bose because they suck and are over priced... you can get much better equipment for far less... To put it bluntly lol
