Default Scosche Dash Kit

Has anyone here used the dash kit made by Scosche? I currently have the one made by Metra and was wondering if there was any difference. There was a post made a while ago asking this question, but no one answered the actual question!

I think they may actually be different.. the Metra dash kit comes with a trim ring.. According to these pictures I've found the Scosche does not..

Scosche NN1665B 2009 Nissan 370Z Installation Dash Kit

I'm curious how tight this kit fits without the trim ring compared to the original dash kit...

I may be ignorant when it comes to this so sorry if this is obvious. Is the dash kit necessary if you put in a double din head unit? I thought a headunit like the ken wood 9990hd fits perfectly in the 370z...

I just installed the Pioneer AVH 4500 and used the factory bezel. There is no no need for a dash kit if you are using a double din head unit.

Really like the HU, Android friendly. Still experimenting with the App Mode. Good luck on your install.

I disagree. I have the Scosche dash kit currently installed in my car and it has a better fit than the original factory bezel. The original dash kit is a little bit wider than the Scoche and leaves a small subtle gap on the sides which I can see even in your pictures.

I've compared the Metra (Which i used to have), the Orginal, and the Scosche kit and if you want the BEST fit the Scosche is the way to go.

Only if you have a non-bose system already with DD opening...as for me I needed the Metra Kit for my DD.

Yes the Scosche kit fits and looks great. The OE bezel leaves noticeable gaps.

but you have a gap around the perimeter. on my install (same AVH4500BT) i removed the thin felt on the factory bezel (just peel it off, use RC car motor spray or RC Nitro glow engine cleaner), made a gasket using black hard felt. absolutely no gap. unfortunately i dont have a close up pict of my HU right now...

also did this.

I had no idea that there was a different kit that offers a tighter and cleaner fit. Looks like I will be changing to Scoshe soon. Thanks

Wish I had known too but there's no way I'm tearing everything out again until I upgrade stereos next year. I like the cleaner look of the Scosche but I got my Metra kit to work well with my Kenwood.

The finish is very nice, almost rubbery to the touch but you have to be extremely careful during the entire process not to scratch it, even until the last step of reinstalling the center console (shifter/armrest). One wrong move and the whole Metra bezel will have to be repainted if you're obsessive. I came close several times.

I didn't like how the thin bezel in the Metra kit was shiny black while everything else was matte so I painted it flat black and it looks much better. Now I don't like how the Kenwood is gloss piano black but nothing I can do about that now.

I guess I'll pick up a Scosche kit and put it on the shelf for a while or until Kenwood comes out with it DNX-SuperDuper9999DN.
