do I need component speakers if I just want a "decent" system?

ok, thanks w0rM. I will take your word for it and go with those Polk speakers you linked. While you're at it...do you mind recommending a good head unit? Are

Are there any good touch screen head units with bluetooth and an auxiliary jack that I can get for under $500?

I'm a huge fan of the Pioneer head units. I just picked this one (AVH-P4400BH) up a couple of months ago and I couldn't be happier. It has a 7" screen, bluetooth and support for Pandora. You can even charge your phone with the supplied USB lead.
