Don't get the touring for the bose, but the other things, heated leather seats etc.. If you don't care for the seats save the money and get the base model and upgrade. I'm happy with my bose, but i'm apparently the only one.

I am very pleased with the Bose system that came with my '12 Touring. Plays the ipod and mp3's very nicely. The system will not blow you away like a Mark Levenson but it will give you a very clean sound and a good amount of bass with no distortion.
I'm sure there are many people that would rather use the difference in cost for an aftermarket system and can make it sound even better than the Bose. But as for me I like things stock and dont want to deal with sending the car into stereo shops. Just keeping it simple. The heated leather seats gives the Z car a little bit of lux! So for a two seater car this small the Bose system sounds great IMO! |

Yeah, I'm with Neko. I like it. It's a million times better than my previous car. More bass than my wife's car. It's clean, loud, and functions great. The steering wheel controls get a lot more use than I would have initially predicted, too.
If you're an audiophile, you'll be disappointed. I'm not, and I'm happy. |

I have a base, and I have listened to the Bose in a touring model also. Base is horrible, really, reaaly bad. The speakers are unbelievably cheap and sound like crap.
Touring Bose sounds better, but still lacks bass and sound quality. I would buy a base/sport model and upgrade. For a good new head unit, and some good 6.5 speakers, and an amp you can have a really decent quality system for less than $1000. I think mine total cost less than $600 and it sounds awesome. If you want to add a sub, it can get more expensive. |

The Bose system isn't terrible, but it really doesn't compare to most premium systems offered in other cars at the price range. The bass doesn't kick much, and the highs seem lifeless. Clarity could be better too. But I'm gonna be realistic, I bought a sports car and what I miss out on from my speaker system, I get back many fold from the engine note. Plus, it's still better than most base speaker systems out there.

Its bass certainly can't compare to an aftermarket sub, not even a crappy one. That said, the car is so loud that (aside from the sub) the otherwise mediocre system sounds ok. Unless you plan on really cranking it or adding sound dampening, it doesn't make much sense to me to worry about having a super high-end system in a car like this...

It's not the best stereo I've ever heard. At a "background" volume, even with the bass all the way up it's not much. You might want to fade to the rear a click or two to cut the volume and give it a little "loudness" effect.
However when you crank it up, it is clear and fairly punchy, with little or no distortion up to a pretty high volume. So, I think if you listen to rap or other bass-heavy stuff you will be disappointed but if you are more into guitar-driven rock stuff it does pretty well. |

Spend your money on a aftermarket system, here is some info that may help you decide.

The Bose system's weakest point is the head unit, in my opinion.
Once you get better EQ running to the speakers, they sound quite a bit better. That being said, it does not compare to an average aftermarket setup. |
