What's your music setup?
Hello everyone! Just joined these boards as I'm looking at getting a '09 370Z with Nav and was wondering how enthusiasts such as yourselves have setup your cars to listen to music. Kind of curious to see what the most common approach is:
1. Downloaded mp3s on Nav unit 2. Connect iPod / dedicated music player through cables 3. Connect Smartphone through cables 4. Play Smartphone through Bluetooth 5. Listen to the radio 6. Custom Nav unit (non-factory) 7. Still use CDs 8. other (did I miss something?) 9. I just listen to the engine - that's music to my ears If anyone has specific experience with the iPhone 4s I'd love to hear as that's what I'm currently using as my go-to music device. If I'm not listening to whatever I downloaded then I'm hooked up to internet radio stations. How well does this phone connect to the '09 370Z in terms of music compatibility? Thanks! |

i have the base 370Z and swapped out to a doubledin pioneer and that's all for now. i listen to mp3's mostly but my car's muffler is pretty loud so i dont intend to spend too much money on the stereo and just enjoy driving the car.

160 GB iPod through Kenwood head unit (Apple Lossless compression). Occasional Bluetooth streaming of Pandora, Slacker, iHeart.
Some radio, but not much. Oh yeah. ESPECIALLY number 9. |

Something I didn't know until I got the car is that the music box rips and stores CD's at a very low bit rate and no way to change it.
Bose factory stereo is mediocre at best and this just killed it. My best setup is my old iphone plugged in with all lossless mp3's. And number 9 too!

I have a kenwood DD HU and connect my iPhone through bluetooth. I couldn't stand having the aux wire snake its way through the cabin, just looked too sloppy. I have about ~20gb of music on the 4S and pandora to stream.

I still use cd's and rip original cd's in apple lossless format for my ipod and use ipod cable to connect to head unit.

I'm too lazy to do that anymore. 10 years ago I had 3 giant binders of -APE (remember -APE?) ripped CDs. Now everything's on the iphone or streamed through spotify.

3.) Connect my blackberry through cables.
My bold can play FLAC and I like to have it charge while I drive. I'd like to eventually use a tablet for navigation/FLAC streaming into my kenwood DD, looking into Nexus 7, Playbook, Win8 Surface tabs, which ever one plays the nicest as far as navigation and tethering to my smartphone is concerned.
