Here's a video. It's not the best video but I shot it in bright daylight. BTW, the white glare on the left upper hand corner is glare from my white shirt. I should've wore a black shirt I'll change shirt and do another video in half an hour

As you can see, in bright daylight sun hitting the camera, it just gets a little hazy. I can still see what I need to see

Ahh, yea yours looks way better than mine in sunlight. If we can get some sunshine again here this weekend I'll try to take a vid, I just got a video camera. Mine the screen almost goes pure white in the sunlight. BTW I lol'd at the DJ on your radio who accidentally was talking about some computer virus spreading sperm instead of spam.

oh that's least of the worries on that channel. It's the Howard Stern channel. Whenever I tune to it, I expect some crazy stuff!

AK & Matt,
I've been lurking on the forum for about a month now and thanks to the both of you, I've decided to replace my stock HU and upgrade to the Kenwood DNX6140 with a rear view camera purchased from the same guys that you used. I am having a problem with the rear view picture being upside down. I reviewed the instruction manual and I can't seem to figure out how to flip the image. Any suggestions???

Once again...thanks for doing the great job detailing your install.

The camera you have is probably made to be mounted one way. You probably mounted it upside down. Just take it off and rotate it and re mount it.

You may be correct, but here's the camera I purchased.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120506758231

I mounted it in the same location as you did with AK's 370z. When I mount it that way the camera points downward at about a 30 degree angle. If I turn it over not only will the camera then point up at a 30 degree angle, but I will need to lower the mount so it clears the rear bumper. It's hard for me to beleive they intended this camera to only be mounted on "top" of a flat surface or that the HU can't be adjusted to flip the image.

Hey mototrmpt,

You bought the camera with wrong slope! . Looks like he is out of the other models (the one I have).

Take a look at my camera slope direction:

And here's your camera:

Do you see the difference? At this point, I think you can show the seller picture of my camera and ask him if he can send you that if you return yours. (I can provide you more zoomed picture from different views if needed)

or maybe look into something like this? This one is adjustable!
Car Rear Backup Reverse View Vision Camera w/ 5M Cable - eBay (item 120509311463 end time Jan-01-10 13:50:01 PST)

On your HU, there IS a setting where you can MIRROR image so that you can read the license places right. But that won't help you if the camera is upside down .

Sorry man. You're always welcome to ask us before buying. This guy offers so many different models of back up cameras, it's easy to end up with the wrong one. Let me know what you decide.

Bigaudio,
my mount looks exactly like AK's. I tried the mirror setting on the HU, but it only reverses the left side, right side aspect.

AK,
the picture in your post is the picture of the camera I purchased. If you install it upside down it will look exactly like your install. I guess that's the key..."installing it upside down". I'm a bit puzzled though since the camera referenced by "bpd138" shows it sitting point up like mine, but he also installed his "upside down".

I've sent a message to the seller to see what can be done as well as to Kenwood to see if they have fix. I was just hoping I was overlooking an obvious quick fix.

Thanks to the both of you for your help.

Can not do that the bracket is built into the camera.

Did the description say anything about being the right side up or anything? AK's is not installed upside down it is installed the way it was made to be installed.

I included my link to my ebay auction above. It doesn't mention anything about right side up and oddly enough, it didn't come with a user's manual or instructions.

If you look at the picture, you would assume you would install it on the underside some something so the camera points down. Otherwise it would point towards the sky. I also assumed I installed it the way it was meant to be installed, but apparently that's not the case.

I bought the same one, got it yesterday with a christmas card! Mine is definitely pointing the correct direction, I just checked it. I haven't tried, but I would think that you could take these 4 screws out and take it apart, and just flip the camera
