Update: rear cam automatically activates with reverse gear engagement

Well, big thanks to bpd138 for looking into my small problem (R cam not automatically switching when reverse in engaged). He suggested that I should look at some A/V setting before taking things apart. One of the setting was "R-Cam interruption". From the factory, "R-Cam interruption" is turned off. I simple switch it to on and voila, it works like a charm. Now, if I put the gear in reverse, the rear cam activates. I can still press and hold navi button to turn on rear cam manually.

Hello all I am Matt the one he went to. I actually live in Bridgeton Nj not Bridgewood. If anyone needs any installs done just let me know. working on AK's Z was great it is a very nice car and demands respect for being as new as it is. I am a very friendly person just ask me anything anytime. Nice pic's AK

Nice install man. Question on the camera. Does it show the correct reverse view or is it backwards? The quality looks pretty good on that camera and for the price, I am considering getting one to add to my Kenwood as I haven't done that yet. I need to get that and XM (not sure if I want that or Sirius as they are both the same company now). I have my NAVI Antenna under the radio console so nothing is showing. Right where your gauges are top middle of dash I had a gap that I slid the antennas into. Not a single problem with signal. :)

bigaudiofanat 06-23-2009 09:12 AM

As far as I know it shows the correct way of viewing things.

I will check it for you. Take a look at the videos. I think it's correct reverse.

I know you were saying something about this text feature. Do you know how this works?(sorry too lazy to check the manual).

Welcome Matt :hello:. Make yourself comfortable here.

I don't know myself as I haven't hooked up my BT module yet. :(

I am waiting to get the accessories all together before tearing apart my dash again. But last I heard you can type and respond on the screen of the NAVI to text messages.

This is NICE. Very professional, definitely a grade A alternative to the touring's nav.

I just wanted to share a few more pictures with you. Hope you do not mind AK370Z.

Thanks to you, Russell (I hope I got it right :o), I looked into this topic. As you can see in the videos, the reverse cam image was flipped. So, I open up the manual and find this great feature:

You can actually mirror the R-Cam image! I simply switched to "mirror on"(it's off from factory) and now I see all the license plates correctly on my screen. The more I learn about the unit, the more I get amazed.

So folks, keep asking question(s) because the more questions you ask, the more I learn!

Well I have no clue that was in there! Dang! Sweet. Guess I will pick up that camera now and figure out how to put it on my Z. :)

Here is my solder job btw. :)
