New Eclipse AVN726E Installed - Pics.
5 Attachment(s)
Here are some pics of my new installation in basic model with manual trans and sport package. I love it!
that looks really clean... Did you do the install yourself?
How do you like everything on it so far? |
thanks, yeap, did it myself. So far I love it. I did not install the back-up camera or satellite radio, but I might do it later when I get all the ascessories. GPS, the quality of audio and video are awesome.
If you are going to do the Backup Camera please post some pics of it, I'd like to see how good it is. I was going to have that system installed in my (upcoming) Z, but I am really spoiled about that camera.
that install is seriously awesome! i have the AVN 4430, but now im tempted...seriously tempted...

Here are some more pics during the night.....sorry but it is iPhone quality camera.
eclipse website says to use only their back-up camera, but I hope there are some compatible as well. Cheers!
Nice install mate, real clean. Thanks for the pics.
Where did you install the antenna for the navi?
Also how are your I pod controls? I read that the Apple cable doesn't display the album art. This isn't really a big deal, but it would be a cool feature.
Looks good man the controls for there models are ....different than say an alpine. But there still nice some artwork dose show but it depends on what format it is in.
Look at night pics. You should be able to see antena coming from under the center compartment and going between the two gauges.
thank you for all nice comments!
ok I see it thanks bro..looks good
Hello folks? Any way to install this in place of the cabinet, like in the stock Navi? thanks!
I'm just curious as to why no one mounts their aftermarket nav up where the stock nav is mounted? Don't you think it would look much better? or at least be easier to see...
Well you would have to extend all the wires to put it up there. Also someone would have to make a custom mount for it to be there.
Agree! It would require major rebuilding. However, I think one day we will see it here.
I'll wait this out. I hope people come up with a mounting bracket/kit that goes into the cupboard.
Does this unit have the option for steering wheel controls?
The unit has wiring, however you would need a separate module to connect steering wheel controls for audio (cruise controls work fine after this custom installation).
where did you buy the bracket for the Head unit? Also where did you buy the wiring harness? I ordered this unit last week and should be receiving it soon. I also went to Best buy to have a quote on my system install, and they told me I need to bring in the wiring harness and the the bracket for the head unit. Or does the unit it self come with a bracket that will work? Thanks
The bracket that is already in the car works just fine nothing wrong with it, also they should have the wiring harness for it if not you can get them on ebay or crutchfield. Here are the links to them
Scosche NN04B 2007 - Up Nissan Radio Wiring Harness - eBay (item 330221221661 end time Jul-12-09 17:37:19 PDT) Scosche NAA2B 2007 - Up Nissan Versa Antenna Adapter - eBay (item 230119254644 end time Aug-05-09 20:10:18 PDT) And to be honest you could probably do the install yourself. |
Looks clean and nice!!
hey thanks a ton for those links!! I have done all of my car stereo installs on my other cars, I just want to make sure I don't screw this up. Esp since I have never done navigation unit. My big concern is having the antenna hidden under the dash. I was talking with the guys there, and they think they can have it completely hidden away.
Take your time, if you rely want to do it nice go to walmart get some normal heat shrink, and solder and heat shrink your connections. You will do fine.
is it hard to locate the Ipod controls in the glove compartment? I think that location would be better since I think i have only opened that thing like two times in about 2 months. I like the idea of putting it in the compartment above the head unit. But I don't really want to drill in that area.
ok, you inspired me to get the new eclipse! Got it yesterday and am going to install it on Thursday. just a couple quick q's for ya when you got a sec...
1. how do your speakers sound now that you have this head unit in? 2. did you hook up a back up camera? 3. on the harness from the new eclipse and the harness from scoche there are three black grounds... I'm assuming the double one gets chopped and then the remaining get connected right? wow, that just made me sound like an idiot. 4. where did you ground off the parking break :) 5. were you able to hook the brown (i think its the brown one) to the factory steering controls? any hints? Just want to add one more time that your install and choice look amazing!!!! hope mine turns out well too! Shane |
You will have to drill a hole for the wire to be ran threw unless it can be ran over the lip of the inside of the glove box. Not that hard I would drill a hole and dremel out the hole.

2. No I did not get back up camera yet. 3. I don't remember any more about that. I thought there were 2 black wires, and you can just ground one of them. 4. Parking break is a little tricky, because you have to remove the center console to get there. Once you lift it you will spot the wire going to hand break sensor. If you do it that way you will be able to watch DVD movies only when parking break is engaged. I am pretty sure you could bypass it. 5. This is also tricky, because in order to have this working with steerring wheel controls you will have to get a separate module for that which can be found on this forum where people did it with other navigation units. I did not do it so my audio steereing wheel controls don't work right now. Cruise controls are unaffected. Good luck! |
