Default Considering Upgrading Pioneer Avic x920BT to the Z140BH question...

Hello all..

I asked this question on avic411.com a few weeks ago and havent gotten a reply.. Maybe someone here will know the answer...

I currently have a Pioneer Avic x920BT installed in my 2009 370z. I have the bypass done, a rear view camera, and the Metra ASWD hooked up. I was wondering if I were to upgrade to the Pioneer Avic Z140BT, could I simply just plug and play swap the two headunits with the Bypass and ASWD still working? or will have I to reprogram the ASWD and the redo the bypass on the newer z1140BH harness?

Thanks in advance.

I think at the very least you may have to rewire the bypass, at the most rewire the bypass and reprogram the metra. Same harness though.

I don't know about pioneer specifically but I know for sure that similar model year kenwoods will allow you to do this DeEePiDDy. I used to buy kenwood exclusively for this reason. I could upgrade within a couple years and just unplug one radio and pop in the next. Same mounting brackets and everything. Good choice though. I like pioneer heads. I had a real nice single DIN in my 3000GT. Very good sound quality and simple enough to use without an electronic engineering degree. I just bought a head from China (taking the leap of faith). I researched it well before I bought it and I am super pleased with it. It has all of that out of the box. SWC included. It's pretty awesome and the best part is... it is half android and half radio.

Good luck with the new unit!
