Default Help hardwiring radar detector

I followed radar roys "how to hardwire a radar detector video" using an add a circuit to the lower left fuse box on the driver side. I have everything set up but I just don't know which fuse to tap. I am assuming I put it in the radio fuse. However, the add-a-circuit will fit into any of the fuse slots but the fuses wont fit into the add a circuit. what is going on here? do I need to buy a new type of fuse?

I was going to go that route, but did this instead -- it only works if you have the Homelite mirror for the power and ground. It works great with my 9500ix.

I did the same hardwire and it work fine on mine.

I used this one from Oriely's

Littelfuse FHM200BP - Fuse Holder | O'Reilly Auto Parts

I think you are trying to push in the fuse too much or you need to flip the fuse around and try again. The fuse that you add to the "add-a-circuit" fuse holder doesn't hold the fuse like the stock fuse box. It will stick out a little but still works. That's what I remember.

I just plugged it into a random fuse, maybe I should have used the radio one, but I chose the most accessible one. Everyone works fine...knock on wood.

I took off the side kick plate and the whole plastic cover over the fuse box and put the fuse in the back away from the cover and it fit.

you guys can sandwich a small pig tail in the fuse contact to run detectors. either solder a 1.5A fuse or use 2 female space connectors for a mini fuse and e-tape it in series.

you should be able to use the standard mini add-a-circuit though. the width/pitch is the same as the low-profile mini fuses.

Its should fit. I have 3 tap a fuses in there.

Or pick one of the fuses farthest from you when looking at it.

I'll go to mine tomorrow and take some pictures so you can see what the finished product looks like and which fuse to tap. If you have most radar detectors, you want to make sure not to go for anything higher than a 10AMP fuse.

Thats correct, they dont require a lot of power to run them.

I tapped into the switched 12v to the 12v outlet in the console. The harness is accessible right under the shift boot cover. There are two harnesses. One runs to the 12v outlet (2 wire) and one to (I think) the bosch sensor that has 6+ wires.
