Default Steering controls with aftermarket HU on base

Is it possible to swap the controls from a nav car so I would have like phone buttons and stuff, and then is it possible to wire to the aftermarket hu? Looking at the Kenwood 9990HD

Thanks!

I am going to go out on a limb and say it may be possible but it will not be easy or pretty getting it all wired up. I am not sure how the steering wheel controls differ from the stock as to where they hook up.

I know you have to do a BT bypass in the trunk of the bose system when you want to get the phone buttons to work for your new head unit. So I am going to say those buttons at least are going to the trunk area.

Correct, all other buttons will work fine. I recommend the axxess over the pac.

Ok thanks man. To confirm, would it be just those 3 I mentioned? Vol Up, Vol Down, and Source?

Thanks!

I've read that the PAC has delayed controls. Is this true? Any idea if this the same with the Axxess module?

I am looking at a Pioneer specifically for an aftermarket head unit. Does anyone happen to know the product name/number of what I should be looking for? Would this work with bluetooth controls as well? I've found some instructions in several places of the forums about the installation of however I never found any videos or demonstrations.

Axxess= fast as factory response

PAC= Delayed responses.

The phone call buttons you have to do some bypass wiring in the trunk in order to get those to work.

I have a Pioneer x920bt with the Axxess ASWC installed. It's pretty responsive and there's no real delay. I've heard with the PAC there's a lot if delay.

I just recently bought a Honda S2000 that has the PAC steering wheel control, but after swapping out the Alpine Radio for the Kenwood Excelon I have, I cant get the damn Interface to work with my radio. Im not sure why. Im wondering if the Kenwood unit is too new, or if its Excelon thing, or if I go with the Axxess setup if that will fix the issue.

does alpine and kenwood use the same pac? I know sony/pioneer does but not sure about kenwood. might want to start there.

the pac is so low tech i dont think there's really anything in there that would need to 'update.'

They are 2 different modules you would have to buy the PAc that is made for kenwood, where as the metra you can program it for any head unit or any brand.
