Excellent!!! Thanks alot. I just pulled the trigger on the Headunit (Pioneer AVH-x2500bt = $255 on Amazon) last night. FYI -- The Homelink mirror is already installed in my Z.

FYI -- The Homelink mirror is already installed in my Z. Just need to find the right wires to splice into the Headunit.

From reading the Pioneer manual, looks like I will need to splice into the video feed with a RCA type wire, and splice into the wire from the camera that is already splicing into the Reverse power feed.

Would love to see the details link. I really would like to have my whole plan of attack ready to go before I start tearing apart the dash.

Rep points for you!!!!!!!!!!!

Did we every come up with the video feed wire colors for tapping into an RCA?

I'm looking to do this project as well, keeping both the mirror & HU video feed's.

Another request to see if this is documented anywhere for us folk installing a new radio and want the camera to come through the radio screen rather than the rearview mirror.

Yep I knew h2o had it but that still doesn't give us a DIY or a wire to tap into lol.

It doesn't help that I am too clueless to remember which wire went where.

Someone should punch me.

I just did this on my 2013 NISMO. I caught the grey line on the driver side kick panel, and carefully cut through the gray shield.

There are four (4) wires and a shield wire in this packet (Green, White, Red, Black and again shield wire).

You need to splice an RCA wire, and connect the Red wire to the Positive (Video), and the Black wire to the negative (Video). Then, connect the Green wire to reverse wire on the back of your head unit. Be advised, the green wire INSIDE the grey pack of wires is a 6V wire, and the darker green wire OUTSIDE the pack of grey shield is 12V. Either 6V and/or 12V will work just fine with the Stock camera of the 370.

As well, I have a Kenwood DNX891HD head unit. I am running an iData Link Maestro Rr connected to the Can high and Can low, which allows me to run a dash command style program on the head unit. As well, it allows FULL steering wheel use with the Kenwood units. I use to have an Avic z140BT installed in my 350 NISMO, but that unit SUCKS. Any questions, feel free to ask. I can take pics of the head unit connected if needed.

Frosty,

Let me know how it worked out for you? Also, if you need any help or have questions, let me know...

Thank you so much for the photo's.

I've been holding out on this project for some time, deciding on the head unit right for me.

Now with the recent announcement at Google I/O for 'Android Auto', i'm super excited and will be awaiting the first gen aftermarket HU's that are supplied with this feature, hopefully later this year.

If anyone didn't follow this, it enables a feature similar to how AppRadio works, but a native mirroring of your Android smartphone right onto the aftermarket display with a simple USB cord.

Not only that, but being a native android compatible feature, 'Android Auto' will have many other features, such as voice command integration. Plug your phone in, and speak them words, listen to and reply to texts, etc.

You guys can Google it for more info, but its 1000x better than AppRadio, and an answer to Apples up and coming CarPlay non-sense, yea, not a fan of Apple.

So with some heavy hitters announcing they will make aftermarket HU's like Alpine, Pioneer, JVCKenwood, and many others, the Android Auto will be worth waiting for to me.

Also, will mean they can produce many sub $500 displays, since they won't need navigation built in, the phone is doing all that, it just needs to be a feature compatible display, and display only, you're phone is literally doing the rest with Nav, Music, video, etc.

Another thread to update.
Adding to this thread and maybe one or two others as I just added my aftermarket radio to my stock rear camera and some of the wires are different colors than what I've been seeing here. My Z is a 2019 Heritage manual.

In some threads I've seen the camera wires as being contained within a larger insulated gray wire. In my case it was a blue wire.
Some images show this gray wire containing 1 green, 1 red, 1 white and 1 black wire. In my case there was a red, white and black wire.
I tapped the white wire as ground and the black wire as positive for the rca cable that connects to the rear of my radio.
This differs from other instructions stating that the black wire is ground, red is positive and green is the reverse light trigger.

Here's an image from another thread showing the blue wire in the back hatch area. It looks the same in the kick panel.

For the trigger wire that shows voltage when in reverse, some threads referred to an orange or tan wire in the drivers side kick panel area. My wire is tan with a white stripe, also in the kick panel.

Hope this helps others with late model Z's that might have the same wiring as mine.
