Just installed Kenwood 9990 and now my sub is not working

Do I have to manually turn on the sub from within the headunit? I cant seem to figure it out and the shop that installed it took the manual.

Yes. If its like the 9980, go to the EQ and click on bass ext.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

I turned it on, still nothing from my sub. I see an option for Ext Sub, but I can't seem to do anything with that.

Is this the bose sub?

Did you make sure to connect the wake up wire? Also called the REM "blue/white"

NickBaragona 05-22-2012 08:03 PM

No, I have a Rockford Fosgate P2D2. Where is this wake up wire located?

bigaudiofanat 05-22-2012 08:19 PM

You run that to your new amp from the head unit.

NickBaragona 05-22-2012 08:25 PM

Oh ok. Just to clarify, the amp and sub were installed last fall and were working fine. After installation of the headunit, no sound from the sub. The amp lights up, so I know its receiving power.

Well if it is turning on than it is getting power, it sounds like they used speaker level inputs and you now bypassed them with your new head unit so you have to run a set of these directly from the head units sub output to the input of the amp.

Thanks, is this something I could easily do myself, or is it best to let the shop take care of it?

RRonin 05-23-2012 01:02 PM

Nick, I really recommend taking it back to the shop before digging into it. After you pull it apart the shop will not help you or they will charge you to fix it.

NickBaragona 05-23-2012 07:33 PM

Good point, I'll def take it back to them Monday.
