Polk Audio MM6501 vs. DB6501
I've settled on Polk speakers for my front doors. Going to initial run off of a JVC 20w RMS head unit, with maybe an amp down the line sometime.
Which of these should I get? Money is tight, but $80 difference, so I could probably get the MMs if it is worth it. I may get a powered sub if I feel my system needs it still. What is the difference between these two speakers? Which will work better with my HU, without an amp. Will either give as much bass as the stock speakers running from the JVC HU? I am torn, help me out guys. |

If you are going to amp them down the road go for the MM's. If not go with the db's

What about these:
JL C2-650 Massive Audio VK6 I am trying to get better 6.5 speakers than the db6501s that cost a bit less, leaving me money to put toward an amp. Are there any good options out there? |

If you include Jl than you should include hertz, focal, and others as well. I would take any of those brands over JL just because i think of them being bright going in the factory tweeter locations.

So if my budget is between $150 - $200 What are the best component speakers I can buy?
They will be driven by an amp something like this: Amazon.com: Kenwood KAC-7205 2 Channel 1000 Watt Class Ab Amplifier [Electronics]: Car Electronics The Polk MMs are at $199. How about: Focal Access 165 A1 Last edited by vermithrax; 04-30-2012 at 12:08 PM. |

The focals are cheaper by about $50.

I have the polk mm6501 in my 09 base. Make sure you run them with the -3dB switch on the crossovers set or they will be overly bright in your car due to their location.
