Have a few questions regarding speakers/amp..

I want to get a nice set of component speakers in my Nismo. First off what is a good set to get that won't break the bank?

Also I am going to want to put an amp on them, so would I get a 2 or 4 channel amp? Since I have the Nismo there are no rear speakers...

2 channel amp and component speakers of your choice.

Are you ever going to want to put in a sub also? What is your budget?

Sub is a maybe at this point, depends on what the components sound like. Budget is as low as possible :)

While I don't have any first-hand experience with them, I see the Polk components recommended on here quite a bit as a good budget set. The general recommendation is to get the db's if you plan to run them off of HU power, MM's if you plan to amp them. If you are going to get an amp now and think you might want a sub later, I would get a 4 or 5 channel amp.

:iagree:

Also if you want a good 300+ dollar set look at these

WoofersEtc.com - HSK 165 - Hertz 6.5" 2-Way Hi-Energy Component System

WoofersEtc.com - 165 VB - Focal Polyglass 6.5" Component Speaker System

I have had the same JL PowerWedge setup in my last 3 cars... i am absolutely sold on their products and reliability.

And once you have the thump in the trunk, you may not need the speakers... just saying.

While a 6.5" component will sound real good, you won't get the same bass as you would with a dedicated sub. Those woofers just can't move that amount of air volume. If you push too hard, they'll either distort and/or blow.

If you're looking for that low frequency bass, a small 10" sub will provide very nice fill. I ran a 10" alpine type R sub in my camaro in a relatively small, non ported enclosure (1 ft^3). The results were very good, nice full sound. I had full range component speakers up front, midrange woofers in the B pillars, and the sub in the hatch area.
