How good do the dB6501's sound off of an aftermarket HU? I have installed this kind of setup before, and every ounce of bass has disappeared.

I know they aren't going to replace a sub, but will there still be enough bass for the db's to sound better than the stock speakers?

No way in the world is a BassLink going to fit in the tray area of the hatch. I think you're going to be limited to a 6.5" Bazooka or doing something custom with an 8" sub. A shallow 10" will fit in the spare if you are up for building an enclosure for it. There are a few threads on here that show how to do it. That is the route I am currently taking.

Well I have a shallow 13 inch on top of my spare. The sound is phenomenal. :tiphat:

I would love to make a custom enclosure for a shallow sub to fit in the spare tire area. Don't really have the equipment or know-how to work with fiberglass etc...

I just installed these two amps under my seats tonight. The mono amp is slightly larger and had to go under the driver's seat. The space under the passenger seat is actually tighter and luckily I was able to to fit the smaller 4 channel amp under there. I am able to safely adjust the seats forward/backward without any snagging. They cannot be seen when the seats are installed. Using Amazon will help you save money. These amps are cheap and effective.

I fabricated the sub box out of fiberglass to fit the space behind the strut bar (foam insert area).

Yeah I just saw you posted that in your other thread. Are you selling these? A flush mounting version would be awesome.

I could fabricate one for you; however, it would take some time since I have only build one for my 370Z. The sub box enclosure is constructed separately from the cover as seen in the picture. The two pieces are fiberglass together. My sub box weighs approximated 6 lbs. I built a removal cover wrapped in speaker cloth to hide the sub, signal processor (bitTen) and amp access opening.

Not sure on the price, but it would cost more that typical MDF constructed sub boxes due to material cost and layup time. My one-off sub box took about a month to make due to being sick over the Christmas holidays.

If other people are interested, I will have to made a mold which could reduce the time factor.

The sub box enclosure volume size is dependent upon the sub woofer you plan to use.

My sub box is 0.29 cu.ft. will polyfill added inside the sub box. The amp rack is located on the passenger side under the sub enclosure that covers the foam piece and is access through a port. The amp's access opening is large enough to permit access for adjusting the amp's gain controls.

There is approximately 1.0 interior cu. ft. for the sub box if the entire space where the foam piece is located in used as a sub box. That said, the amp would have to be located elsewhere. For example, a JL Audio 8w7-3 sub requires 0.875 cu.ft. for a sealed sub enclosure or 1.00 cu.ft. for a ported enclosure. :tup:
