Volume Knob Issue (09 Bose Model)

When I turn the volume knob, it hesitates and sometimes turns the volume up/down in the opposite direction of what I'm turning it. Does anyone else have this problem or have noticed this?

I had the stereo replaced under warranty but the new one behaves the same way.

Sounds like it's getting worn out. Time to replace the unit. "had this problem in a civic and a GMC" Not really much you can do.

Yeah that's what I thought too, even though I hardly use the knob. I did have it replaced under warranty two weeks ago and the new radio behaves the same way.

unplug the steering control and see if it still does that.

while you have everything out, before you turn the car back onto ACC, make sure to connect the SRS indicator for the passenger seat so that you dont get an error light.

Where is the steering control plug? Behind the headunit I assume?

Yes it is behind the head unit, although not sure how that will help the volume knob on the head unit. Bose systems break easily, whether it is the amp, speakers, head unit, or display.

I am having the same problem and they said I have to replace the main panel, which will cost me $1450. I just decided to shop around a bit and see if there is any other options to solve the problem.

As long as it is not the nav system you can install an aftermarket head unit.

Mine was still under warranty and had the dealership replace the entire OEM head unit twice.....but it didn't help. Finally I just said F it because I didn't want them to keep taking my dash apart. I must be a problem in the wiring somewhere

mine does that too but like an adult i just use the steering wheel controls lol

This suddenly seems like a very common problem. Is this for the base unit as well or bose unit only?

Bose are know to develop problems down the road weather it be from the head unit or amp. One reason I stay clear of them.

I don't think I ever touched my volume control knob........................when you have controls on the steering wheel why would you?

Guys, just get something like Cramolin and pull the knob off and spray the cleaner into the body of the control, and rotate rapidly. The encoders are just dirty from oxidation. I've cleaned mine and they work perfectly now. All 4 were flaky when turned.

I hope you're correct but I had Nissan put an entirely new OEM head unit in and it behaved the exact same way.
