Anybody know which fuse...

Anybody know which fuse to look for if my newly installed amplifier is not receiving power?

I know nothing of electronics but figured it's worth checking with the forum guru's. :tiphat:

Power to the amp comes from the battery terminal... so would it be another one that's possibly blown in the car???

:eekdance:

p.s. can i pull fuses to check (them while the car is off) without having to reset the windows??

you should have a remote turn on wire for the amp. Is that getting power? go to radio shack/harbor freight and pick up a cheap test light. It looks like an ice pick with a light bulb in the handle. Find a good metal surface to clip the test light to and then start touching the power wires with the pointy end. If it lights up then you have power. The remote turn on should only have power when the radio is on.

X2 on the test light, or volt meter.

Check your wake up wire, also called REM wire.
Check your power wire going into the amp
Check your ground wire.

The first two you can check with the test light, the third "ground" you can sort of check with your test light but a volt meter would work better. Check for resistance. ALso make sure when checking for power on your wake up wire that your head unit is on, otherwise you will not see any power.

Your ground wire on your amp, you can check by using that as your "metal surface" and touching your + lead to your power wire on your amp.

OH great, after d*cking around yesterday i now have the airbag light on the dash and the passenger seat.

I guess i'll try the reset w/ start button trick.

Before you get a test meter... I would look to see if the fuse is blown on the power wire that feeds the amp. If you went to a decent install place, they should have installed an in-line fuse no less than a foot away from the positive terminal of the battery.

P.S. When all else fails... beat it with a hammer. (JUST KIDDING!!!! and I do not take any responsibility for any damage you do.)

Yeah saw the battery fuse... that one "looks" okay. Also the fuse on the amp itself is okay. Everything LOOKS okay, but that's without using a test meter. BAH, how frustrating is this
