ok, so what do you suppose would be a reasonable size amp/wattage i could draw without needing to make any changes to the car's power supply? 300watt rms? im definitely NOT going to put anything big, possibly not even a sub, just really good replacement speakers and that alpine deck designed for pandora i mentioned.

From what i see on this thread the 2-3 guys with the most experiance in the industry are saying if used right they are good for the over all performance of the system.

No not because i said so, it is because the industry has shown prof that if caps are use your more likley to cause harm to your car and or your system in the long run.

I have done systems where a 120 X2 and a 1000 X1 amp have been used with no trouble, keep this in mind. Even if your amps put out X amount of power your A) never going to see the FULL RMS power because that is at full volume and at the amps full gain, and B) after you install your amps you tune your system using the gain knobs on the amps, doing this reduces the wattage the amp outputs.

I would say your ears would probably hurt before you get to where you need to worry about upgrading anything in the Z.

I am currently working on a car where we are running "active" where each tweeter gets around 80 watts each woofer gets around 100 and than we have a sub getting around 350. Now we are adding a set of rear speakers and another 100 watts to each of those. This is where we start upgrading things such as the alternator and second batter and a 0 gauge run. This is just to make sure there is no lack of power going to the amps.

And i have 20 years in the industry, that doesn't mean i know everything like you claim to, the last 8 i have been with 2 of the top manufactures in the industry, you do what, installs on the side...
As for your sites, if you read the credible respones they all seem to say what i, and a couple others have said if you'd bother to read what other people in the know say, that WHEN USED CORRECTLY THEY HELP THE SYSTEM, i can find just as many articals that tell you a cap is the solution to all your problems, doesn't mean anything, when they are all from forums and more people who think they know everything.
Are there crapy caps out there, you bet, will they help dimming lights, yep! should you make sure you've done the big 3 first, you bet, but from an SQ stand point they have their place, and can help even out the voltage that an amp requires to sound it's best. As i've said WHEN USE CORRECTLY they are good.

I am still not convinced that there is enough GOOD info out there to over look the bad. Yes I have read the threads, been on those sites for a while. For every good thing that is said about them there are plenty of bad. To each their own if you support the caps.
