Buy OEM nav system and install it into the basic 370z?
Would it be possible to buy the Nav system from the touring package anywhere and install it into the basic or sport package 370z?
|
Probably not impossible, but too time-consuming, and not worth it.
|
would be awesome if you could just pull out the box and put the screen in...plug and play.........maybe possible if the wires are already there waiting to be connected
|
I prefer the OEM location, but yes, it's probably not worth it. Just get an aftermarket setup.

Possible.... maybe..
Worth it? No. The entire center console from the knobs all the way up to the LCD screen are completely difference from the non-navi model. There's a good chance the car's ECU is different to accomodate the features of the car to throw up on screen. The OEM nav unit can display mileage too, among other features of the car. |
^^ how do you know that for sure??
check the service manual if the connectors are there already |
thanks everyone, i'll probably take your advice and just get an aftermarket navi system when i get my 370z. I can't wait XD

Usually a car maker provides completely different dash part numbers to coincide with a Nav system. Which includes the differences of center console, wire harnesses, etc. Just go aftermarket and save yourself from a nightmare. The best thing you could do is wait for a wrecked 370Z with the Navi system and pull the entire dash + ecu + a pillars, antennas/etc. In my opinion there's a lot more integration with the system than you think. |
^^ a wrecked one would be the best way to get it and while at it, might as well cut the parking brake sensor for navi and vid while in motion.
