I Need Your Opinions and Expertise

Ok...so the base door speakers are so bass heavy that they distort terribly bad on higher volumes and the majority of my songs. I am sure you owners with the stock radio know what I am talking about. What do you guys think of these speakers as far as non amplified drop in replacements.

Pioneer TS-G1642R 6-1/2" 2-way car speakers For 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" openings at Crutchfield.com

Also, Do you think the factory head unit is going to make all speakers sound bad and way too bassy or do you think these drop ins will totally clean up my system. These pioneers seem to be pretty efficient but Im not sure if they are total crap or good. I dont want to spend money on the focals. Ive read all of the links to other discussions and I wanted to get direct input for my specific scenario.

Any opinions about the factory unit being bass heavy, likes or dislikes of these door speakers, positive/negative experiences with aftermarket door speakers running off the base head unit, etc are all welcome.

Thank yiou very much

I would never even put a set of pioneers into such a nice car. I would be looking at focals, Image Dynamics, or polks.

I installed these pioneers shortly after posting the thread. They sound great. You cant put focals or other high end speakers into a stock set-up, they are underpowered. The pioneers are rated at 2-30 rms which is ideal for the stock head unit. Speaker quality isn't everything, its the install and setup and matching that counts. The pioneers are perfect for running off the stock set up

Got ya, ya if you are using the factory head unit or even an aftermarket one without an amp they would not sound as good. But polks would of still sounded better. Any pics of the install? How well did they fit?
