SWI-RC steering wheel control help
Hey guys. I installed my Kenwood DDX318 today and all is working great with one exception.
I cannot seem to get the steering wheel controls to work. I followed all instructions to the tee (so I think) and they are still being stubborn. The box itself is set to mode 3 and I set it up to accept mode 3 programming. It even seemed to take the programming of the buttons with no ill effects. I have 2 questions that could possibly be the issue. 1. In the last stem it says to hook up that blue and yellow striped wire. That was one of the 1st wires I hooked up to the harness. Does it really need to stay disconnected until AFTER I program the box? 2. I grounded the wire for the steering wheel controls (PIN 15) on the car side only. I don't need to ground it on the radio side as well do I? Outside of that, I'm not sure what the problem could be. Thanks for the help!! :tiphat: |
Have you checked the stickie?
http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...ol-wiring.html And why create another thread? http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/5...-controls.html Sorry I can not be much help but 95% of my steering wheel controls are the metra axxess. |
I did check that thread and I figured since I narrowed it down to 1 problem it could be useful to start a new thread. *shrug*

I DID find out 1 piece of info. The lime green wire that comes with the radio that connects to a corresponding lime green wire coming out of the back of the radio needs to be grounded. THIS is the parking brake ground. I will do this Thursday when i'm off of work. Maybe then I will be able to finally upload an image. Found this on a 350Z forum. Still looking for answers on the steering wheel control issue though |
GOT IT!!!!
I figured out what had happened. The ground was no good. Hooked up to a good ground and BOOM!!! Works like a charm now. |
