Alpine INE-Z928HD New for 2012

Is this going to fit I the Z? According to crutchfield it says "Does not fit"....

I thought this was asked already?

Crutchfield will not say something fits until the actually have the unit and can study it.

Sense the chassis is a standard double din it should fit fine.

I spoke with Crutchfield yesterday and they said that there is like 25 people on the waiting list and if i want it i must pre-order now to get it in September...

From my research this is going to need to be a custom install with a trim kit needing to be made. Unless they come out with a specific kit for the Z.

I still haven't gotten around to upgrading my HU/stereo (work's been WAY to busy), but I just saw this video - looks like some significant rework will need to be done to get this baby to fit. With that apparent 1" overhang of the screen on the bottom - wouldn't it interfere with the climate controls (I included a pic of a Clarion double-DIN install from Crutchfield for reference)?

I think the slightly larger screen will be more hassle then its worth. One way or another this unit is going to have additional costs be it custom work or a specialized kit in order to fit the over sized screen.

Overall I feel Alpine is behind the game feature wise. Only now offering built in streaming BT audio. The DVD player still can't play video files, only standard DVD or the old VCD formats. And the navigation works but can be very annoying.

We intslled 2 in both Silverados... Got lucky and were able to fit it in dash with minor modifications. Nice unit. Definitely notice the big screen versus a 7"
