I am looking to change out HU on my newly purchased 2012 base...how difficult is this to install? AND, will I still be able to use my steering wheel controls?

I am looking to change out HU on my newly purchased 2012 base...how difficult is this to install? AND, will I still be able to use my steering wheel controls? My husband is competent but no expert and we are both concerned that it may be more than he can handle...advice?
